I'm excited to share my first successful beer! I tried beer once and my bucket blew... It was messy and it turned me off it. I did cider after that. I made a CDA and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Recipe:

9.5# of LME 1/2 added at boil and 1/2 after

1/2 lb Crystal 60L
1/2 lb Midnight Wheat
1/2 lb Carafa iii

1 Oz Cascade 60min
1 Oz Chinook 60min
1 Oz Chinook 15min
1 Oz Cascade 0min

Whirlfloc

WLP001

OG 1.055 FG 1.014

Beersmith seems to think my beer is 80 something ibu but it's actually around 52 (my calculations)

The two CDA's that I have made are some of my favorite brews so far.

Keep up the good work!

Now get another beer (or three) going!!! :mug:

IMO, IBUs are somewhat objective. Something that you perceive as very bitter might not seem bitter to me. Also it depends on the AA of the hops in question. It could be quite different year to year or grower to grower. Also the age of the hops and how they were stored makes a difference. Make sure you update BS with the AA of the hops that you have.

And the addiction begins! Congrats on a successful brew! And, I agree with everyone else... Get another few beers going! You'll be out of that one before you know it. Build your pipeline!
