When you got a pretty thick yeast cake and hops floating what do you guys use to "clean up" when transferring? Ive tried the double mesh strainer (did not work) and also a muslin bag on the end of my auto siphon (worked ok) but i want to hear what others do, thanks

First, why are you planning on a secondary? Next use time, cold, or both. Wait a little longer (a week or two) and then cold crash if needed. A racking cane should leave most of the sediment, especially if you hold it up off the bottom.

You definitely don't want to strain your beer at that point, unless you have a real filtering setup (pushing with c02 to avoid any air pick up or oxygenation). Oxygen or splashing will be the first thing to ruin a perfectly good beer.

I just use a racking cane, and that's all the specialty equipment that is needed. Careful racking from above the trub, and racking only clear beer, will ensure great results.

Okay thanks, i will just try to stay out of the sediment best i can. I was just wondering because the last beer i made kinda got a lot of sediment in them, just thought i could clear it up.

That looks pretty clear. Are you getting a a ring of sediment in the bottom of the bottles? I try to keep the siphon off the bottom trub when racking to the bottling bucket and get pretty clear beer with a little sediment in the bottom of the bottles.

I hope to get a chest cooler for cold crashing soon.

I think most of that will settle out in the bottle. Looks like a pretty clear beer though :)
