Made my first trip to Band of Bohemia today. All of their beers seemed to have things that give me migraines in them, so I didn't actually try any of their beer, but their brunch is stunning, so I will give them a thumbs up anyway.
I’ve never been impressed with their beer, but the food is absolutely fantastic. their cocktails are interesting and delicious as well

Well I don't aim to disappoint, so here you go.

Got to Off Color around 2pmish and was surprised at the size of the crowd inside which filled the entire bar, and every table in the place. We staked out a spot near the water cooler and *********** with the guy who was running the to go cooler / merchandise area. Was told to grab the Allagash stuff quickly as the kegs were getting low, so the first 3 beers in the foreground are Belfius (blend of coolship beer and saison), Saison Gratis (saison that was hopped in the coolship) and Shiro's Delight (saison aged on plueberries and plums).

Saison Gratis was my favorite, followed by Shiro's and Belfius of the Allagash stuff, and then rmalinowski4 got the two from Jester King (Mad Meg and Noble King) which are in the background. Of those two, Noble King was my preferred beer.

Didn't see very many familiar faces aside from Alex M (pretty sure everyone knows Alex), and was surprised to see the Allagash stuff kick pretty quickly after we arrived. However, not sure how Off Color could have done a better job with the space / crowds.

Favorite anecdote from the day was when I went to close out my tab, and two younger folks were snapping fingers / yelling / trying to get a bartenders attention (and failing...) when Laffler walked over to grab glassware. They tried putting in an order with John who listened for a minute, then without missing a beat told them he doesn't even work there and walked away.

I know there are a lot of people on here who get a kick out of this stuff. Even granting that the people were on the annoying side of things, I cannot imagine treating customers like this. Customers who are clamoring to give you money for your product. And you being the owner, directly, in this case. Stunning to me.

If you could have seen these two you too would have walked away from them, just about every possible stereotype of ******** bar behavior you can imagine in the span of about 2 minutes of waiting.

I'm personally a huge fan of simply ignoring them and taking care of all the other folks who are waiting patiently like normal people before dealing with the shitheads.

So he's supposed to reward obnoxious customers for treating his waitstaff like a lesser tier of human being by going out of his way to take their order?

I don't care who you are, you simply do not snap your fingers at waitstaff.

****, if you snap your fingers at a bartender at certain establishments out my way a lot worse than this might happen.

I once saw a bartender at a beer bar throw the 40 cents in change an extremely obnoxious customer left for a tip back at him.

I see a difference between not taking an order and seemingly listening to an order placed, lying, and then walking away.

As to the snapping, I suppose I considered that to be in the category of all the annoying things people do at a crowded bar to get attention -- waving hands, reaching a $20 over the bar, etc. Not some class-based signalling. I guess I needed to be there.

How dare any business owner not take copious amounts of **** from ********, all in the name of a few extra bucks. Stunning.

I questioned the specific manner in which Laffler responded to the customers, and if your takeaway from that is that I am for bartenders/owners lying down and taking it from chitlords, I don't think there's a convo to be had.

Part of my response to this is that I've seen several similar Laffler stories over the years. The one that immediately comes to mind was a story from BUG where someone asked him whether he had changed something in BCBCS because the coffee seemed different, and in response, he chugged a glass and said something very close to "If you don't like it, don't ******* drink it." Then shared here and met with a bunch of likes and but that's just Laffler explanations when I asked why people found it funny/appropriate.

Perhaps there are key details missing to what is recounted here. But until then, I'm fine being in the minority that apparently just doesn't get it.
