I personally can see it both ways. On one hand, almost every brewery/beer establishment has a mailing list - throw your email on it and you'll get notified of so many events that you'll start to hate every brewery in town.
On the other hand, there's a fuckton of breweries/beer bars/cool restaurants in the city and if one was to subscribe to every mailing list, how in the hell would they be able to poke through all of the beer mail to get to the oh-so-vital "hot singles near you" emails?
I kind of like coming here and finding out about events because I feel like this group does a damned good job at curating itself to the point where most promotors know not to come here with ******** like "$4 Daisy Cutter Cans every Thursday!" and are instead promoting really cool stuff that I'd have no idea about otherwise.
Obviously, there's a very fine line to walk between quality promotion and downright spam, but I more than trust the brewery reps/industry folk who post here to know the difference, and that defintely invludes
vav also. I don't think any readers of this particular thread would balk at the idea of knowing about Publican events, especially since I'm sure that anything Vav deemed worth of posting here would be "straight fire" in the parlance of our times.
