While we may have lost Mean Gene this year, it looks like we're getting Ryeway to Heaven:

10.5.15 /

The bottling of our newest member of our Deep Wood Series has begun! This fall we are adding Ryeway to Heaven, a rye ale aged in rye barrels, to our Deep Wood collection.

A heavy dose of rye breathes new life into this other-worldly strong ale. Supple spice and barley sweetness strike a balance in the young beer before its enlightenment in Heaven Hill Rye Whiskey barrels. Ethereal waves of dark fruit and vanilla ascend from the depths as the elixir warms while the rye character lends a stunningly silky mouthfeel. Perhaps it's a doorway to an existential awakening, or maybe it's just a damned fine beer.

Ryeway to Heaven will be available on draft at our brewpub and tap room and available in 22oz. bombers. Look for it at local retailers soon!

This sounds totally awesome.

Anyone randomly have an extra bottle or two of Off Color Radiolaria? I am also putting out a bounty on any bottles of Whiskers when it gets released in the in week or two. I'm thinking the R&D BBBBBBBBBBBBBBB or whatever it's stupid acronym is plus some $ for extra bottles...

I'll double check when I get home from work, but I'm pretty sure I've got a Radiolaria in the beer fridge. Shoot me a PM so I can use the little unread badge to remind me.

I've seen it on the shelves at Sycamore HyVee recently. Don't know if it's still there though.

Just a heads up the R&D bounty is for Whiskers when release, but I definitely will take care of you for your Radiolaria!

Sent...thanks!

Thanks for the tip...

Bout to cash in my cafecito groupon to help fix my post Cubs hangover and very psyched about it.

Looks like I'm going to St. Louis tomorrow so if anyone needs a ticket to the black gold release get at me. They said I can leave it at will call for whoever and would be happy to just give it away to someone who can use it. Would be rad if I could buy one or two of the bottles from you if it works out.

Picked up duet and hoppy birthday today for a birthday party tomorrow. One bottle say best by March 18 2016, the other is within a few days of that. No idea what that means as far as when they were bottled.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say a 6 month or 180 day best before date? So bottled around Sept 18?

don't worry. no beer is ever as good as it was before and none of them are getting better.
But the actual thing is that the Green Flash ones are not nearly as good as the Alpine brewed ones. Unless that was the joke, then carry on.

This is not some #oldmoney elitist ********. This is the general concensus among people in San Diego and others who have had more than their fair share of Alpine.

I've had Duet* twice. Once in LA, where it tasted like malty ********. Once in Minneapolis where it was really, really good. Not consistent across the board.

that's not really a very big sample size
No ****. I am not the master of Alpine IPAs. I've only even had the real thing once or maybe twice. My point is that it's not aways terrible. The two Duets* I had were drastically different. I imagine the recipe has to be dialed in to even get close.

I've had my fair share of Alpine brewed IPA's and there is a pretty stark contrast. The GF versions are all over the place with some being very good and some just a mess.

According to the Alpine-ophiles, GF has been "dialing in" Nelson* for a year+ and it still isn't close.

Alpine is dead.
