I'm gunna try my damndest to make the Hopleaf event.

Glad to see Almanac is bringing a nice variety to Chicago. My pet peeve is breweries expanding here and only giving us a few beers.

Anyone have a thought on Lunar Brewing in Villa Park? Passed it today and nearly stopped but was hurting on time. Should I stop next time?

Prior to there being a brewery in every suburb, Lunar was the only one in those mid-west burbs. If I remember correctly, they were bought out by Rock Bottom (or Rock Bottom bought a portion of them?). Beer is pretty standard, but the atmosphere is pretty unique: it's a local dive spot. So if you go in at 5pm or so on a weekday, it'll be filled with people drinking Old Style and Miller Lite who just got off of work who will give you a dirty look because you're not a regular. Their tap list (usually updated on Beer Menus) is usually pretty good, if unspectacular. Basically, it's worth a visit if you're in the area.

Bonus points: a couple years ago at FOBAB, they brought a beer aged in Malort barrels. It was ******* awful but ********* they tried.

middlebrow What will you be pouring in Oak Park this weekend?
umm...I got a half keg of cobrastyle (the coffee saison), a un-crashed sixtel of our new lemongrass slightly tart saison (gonna be cloudy), and I think the distributor is bringing some robyn (blonde saison) or parklife (mint-lemon wheat). I'll see where the pepper & apricot wit are at today and see if I can rip another uncrashed brew for samplin purposes.

also went to flossmoor station last night with my parents.....I can say, kinda impressed. The juniper berry/basil belgian saison had a crazy yeast profile and the adjunct's were so mild & complimentary. pitchfork hipster rating 6.8/10. the candied lemon french saison was super mild & easy drinker, subtle yeast profile, again another 6.8/10. The american/english mild missed the mark a bit by being to american 2-row'y but the hops and subtle caramel/toffee notes were nice, 6.1/10. Overall, I was more impressed with those three than I have been in years over there. also I hear he's clearing house of all the old stuff in barrels so if you like BA beers, I think they're gonna have like 3 on tap for the next 3 months.

Anyone remember talk of the caps on Radiolaria not attached properly? Threw mine in the fridge this morning to open tomorrow and noticed it is slightly crooked and now I'm worried.

Yes, all but one of mine were crooked and/or had a dimple in them. That said, I've shipped 3 without issue (though SSideTROLLer actually thought his was a little straighter than the one I gave him for a shared box, so he subbed his in).

Maybe. If not, and he thinks the hesitation with the trade is just that he's new...ok.

And I am not kidding, if the MD is on par with the drafts I had in Madison, I would not trade Prop 1:1.

Can you literally not comment on posts over there anymore? No wonder why I haven't been on their forums in months.

"Replying is a privilege"

Oh, wait, not any more! As of Saturday and per Todz:
  • Replying has been fully disabled. The playing field is once again even. We tried using posting as a privilege, but well-over half the people who were replying failed to do so properly. I also grew tired of dealing with users who felt they were entitled to reply, and users who didn't understand why they couldn't reply because they didn't read the updates.

Good lawd.

FT: Non-BA Stout TG can theoretically start making fairly regularly anytime now (Especially with all that JBros $$$)
ISO: Rarest of rare beers
Not only that, but when it's hot & sunny out, I just can't make myself care about a big coffee stout...I'm still in summer beer mode.

I definitely can't rustle up so many ***** about it that I want to go down to the basement and start pulling out wælzez for the greedy bastard from upthread.

Holy **** the ISO FT for MD.

http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/iso-list-ft-md-pre-4-1.324146/

If the bottles taste like the drafts at Dexter's, people on the ISO are going to be trying so hard to convince themselves after it was worth it.
There was a guy last night on ISO:FT that posted this:
Going to try this out. Feedback welcome.
ISO: MD
FT:
BA Abraxas
Iris
HF Biere De Norma
HF Sue
Black Tuesday
Allagash Resurgam

My feedback was: You're Dumb.
