Part of me wishes I kept up on the special tappings around the city but a lot of me doesn't give a ****.

i think part of the problem is that any post anywhere about a tapping will usually turn it into a mad #newmoney rush. of course, this really started happening well before #newmoney. when i first joined BA way back in the day, special tappings/etc used to get posted all the time. there was a day i drank curmudgeon's better half and 2010 cask bon chien at northdown that was one of the best beer experiences of my life and no one was there. gradually the event postings went away and i started hearing about things more after the fact than any other time. it's at the point where i'm scared to post something here because i'm afraid of new money lurkers seeing it and spreading it to ccbe and thus ruining it for everyone.

i've more or less given up on special tappings unless it's dumb luck (like cbs at bangers & lace) or something that new money obviously doesn't give a **** about.

Anyone headin up to gods country this weekend and interested in picking me up a few enigma 4-packs?

Yo - Goose Island Stout Fest tickets go on sale this Friday. Going to try and make it. Hopefully everyone else will be in the house.

I wonder how much $ the #newmoney crowd would pay me for my MBA presale password for Stout Fest? Or at least what they'd do for my 3rd or 4th full MBA booklet...

I really wish they acknowledged I signed up 4 years ago. And I really wish I didn't forget to sign back every time I'm back in there.

(Full disclosure, I would never sell anything related to my MBA membership!)
If you change your mind, you could probably do well with them. Lots of Goose stuff goes for good $$$. I'm actually tempted to buy a nuthulu, but I'd like to find one for a better price than the current listing on MBC.

I'm not selling my password, I've been an MBA for years and wouldn't stoop that low. I am not even going to Stout Fest, I haven't gone in 4 or 5 years, but I'm not going to sell someone my presale password either.

Had an Ale Syndicate Wolf Point last night and was pleasantly surprised. I thought Richie was solid too, but didn't hear much hype about it. Seems like they are headed in a good direction.

I keep seeing Festus Rotgut around and the packaging intrigues me. It has a decent untappd rating but the price point seems high for what it is. Anyone here try it and feel like it's worth buying? So far I've avoided Arcade and wrote them off as just another "put everything in expensive bombers" brewery.

I really enjoyed Festus. Best way to describe it is black IPA-esque with notes of dry, bittersweet dark chocolate. That said, their bombers are on the low end of local prices and they're hoping to introduce regularly priced six packs soon.

How do you feel about giving it away for free to people who are semi-internet famous?

Looks like the FIBs cleaned out most border-county locations that had Enigma. This according to the other site, so who knows if that's actually the case.

Interesting beers due from Off Color later this month:

Finally, on Tuesday, Feb 24th, we'll be doing an official release of our two new Scandinavian beers up at the mighty bar of the north... Hopleaf (5148 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60640). We'll have Bare Bear, which is our Finnish Style Sahti and Gotlandsdricka (think smoked, rye barley wine). Come to watch me say Gotlandsdricka, stay to watch me say Botszlaambstrickkaaaah when I drink too many Bare Bears. We'll probably have a couple tasty food items on the menu to pair with the beers too.

Okay. I mean, frankly, I don't really care if you sell your password or not. Personally, I'd give it to away to LB rather than let a password go to waste. He is a nice dude and would appreciate it I'm sure.

Let's hope Jester King doesn't find out about Gotlandsdricka. Also, I've never been a fan of either style but I may just have to try them since it's Off Color.

Just grabbed multiple cases of Enigma at the most popular fib stop in Kenosha. Guy behind the counter said it won't last until the weekend.
