#NewMoney FIB rush up 94
giphy.gif

Also for those who are looking forward to Very Mad Cow, one Binny's announced there's no limit so that should mean #NewMoney won't be rushing out to hoard them.
If Straight Jacket is any indication, I'll bypass the #newmoney shitshow at Binny's and pick up a couple from Trader Joe's while I'm there for milk & bread.

It's funny watching CCBE discover breweries that have been in Chicago before but were held out from the Shelton Bros lockout.

With that in mind I ask the following:

What is the next hot #NewMoney brewery and why is it Prairie?

I never make it down to the city; can anyone suggest one or two places I should hit tomorrow? North/NW-side or West Loop preferred.

In the west loop Haymarket has a few interesting beers on tap ... I'm not a massive fan of most of their stuff, but Mathias is pretty solid and the other double IPA stuff looks interesting. Au Cheval also usually has a great taplist and phenomenal burgers if that's of interest.

What about for drinking on premises? Anything good on tap?
I don't know why I assumed you wanted stores, when you said nothing of the sort.

According to Beermenus, Jerry's Andersonville still has Darkness. You could also check out Local Option, Map Room, and Quenchers - all have good beer lists.

If you're willing to tolerate the douchebro atmosphere, Duffy's has 2014 BCBS and 10% Not Your Great-Uncle-Twice-Removed's Root Beer on tap.

I haven't been, but there's a place in Wicker Park called Fat Pours, they have a reasonably-priced, decent-looking beer menu with a few dozen taps...their gimmick is that everything comes as 22oz pours. Awesome for an IPA or saison, but the thought of guzzling a bomber's worth of FBS makes me a little queasy.

I would highly recommend Links, Map Room, or Jerry's wicker park over Fat Pour.

Its all good, my post wasn't very clear to begin with. Thanks for all the recs. Never even heard of Duffy's before.

Hmm might check out Links, heard a lot about it.

Or Bangers & Lace, Piece, Lillie's Q, Big Star, Smoke Daddy, Zakopane (not its real name but whatever), Beechwood Inn, Emporium... among yet others.

ETA: If you're looking at lunchtime/midday hours, Longman & Eagle is great. Dinner service is usually a hot mess and overpriced but the lunch menu is tasty and reasonably priced. Solid beer selection, too, to say nothing of whiskey. They close the kitchen from 3-5 (I think), so plan accordingly.

the war room is verging into CCBE territory tonight....who has the best burger though?

For some reason those threads annoy me even more than the run-of-the-mill CCBE inanity. Seemed like there was a whole spate of them at one point, like someone trying to turn CCBE around. In the worst way.

Lillie Q's has a pretty good tap list right now. I almost mentioned Piece, but have gotten bored with them recently. I don't think they even have all of their own tap handles filled. Camel Toe is probably the only beer of theirs worth ordering right now if Marketing Ploy is gone. And the guest taps are kind of standard fair.

I'm thinking I might try to hit Jerry's for Darkness then shoot down to Goose Clybourn as they have a ton of stuff that interests me. Not even sure if I want to hit Jerry's as its pretty far out of the way as I'll be coming down 94. Traffic might dictate my decision. Otherwise maybe I'll do Goose>Haymarket.

If nothing at Haymarket interests you, Lone Wolf (next to Au Cheval at the NW corner of that same intersection) should still have Zombie Dust on tap, if that's your thang.

I don't really go out of my way for it, though some coworkers may be stopping in there before our party so if they go there I might meet up with them. I pretty much try to tick as many beers as I can.

It's really not that far off 94 FWIW. I thought so for awhile too, but I take that way home everyday and it's usually pretty quick. Touhy > Lincoln > Peterson > Ridge > Clark or Peterson > Ridge > Clark.

Actually I agree, and I get off work at like 3:20 in Lake Forest so can be there by 4 easily. It's really the drive from there to Goose or Haymarket (or nearby) deeper into rush hour that concerns me. I'll still probably do it, mostly because I usually hit heavy traffic at the 90/94 junction anyways, so might as well exit early and grab a beer.

I would just hop onto LSD from Jerry's then get off at North or something. Haymarket will probably prove a little tougher.
