VMC has been a letdown for me in bottles, I use to love it off the tap but have been really unimpressed with it since they started bottling it. Thin, less barrel character, just kinda meh.

Definitely best fresh on tap. Will agree with that. I actually didn't buy any of the bottles from last year either, just a **** load of Straight Jacket.

It sounds like they're going to be a doing a lot more with coffee this year - including a coffee Deth's Tsar (which may have showed up briefly under the name Buzz Alderaan). Maybe they're taking a page from Goose's barrel-aging playbook and letting the barrels "rest" for a winter and summer before bottling. Speaking of Deth's Tsar, I opened a bottle last week and it's pretty ******* good. Much better than when it came out.A.

I definitely thought previously that some of their beers needed more time in the barrels, so I'm very glad to hear that.

i thought deth's tar was disappointingly boozy fresh, glad to hear that it's evolving into something better. i've still got a bottle or two laying around and i'll likely crack one in the nearish future.

thanks to y'alls' recommendations, i opened one of my remaining deth's tars tonight. holy ****, you weren't kidding. this is a hundred miles better than the boozy mess that it was fresh; it evolved into something that actually reminds me a lot of bourbon county barleywine, with those super tasty brown sugar notes mixed with stout roastiness. in my opinion, this beer is probably in its prime or close to it, so drink up.

IMBIBE emails for early FOBAB tickets are going out now. $55 all day through Paypal with a "nominal shipping fee". Getting to avoid Ticket Master will be a nice treat. Early tickets available starting 8/21 at 10 PM and ending on 8/22 at 10 PM. 24 hours to get your ticket or you're SOL.

Can I re-up IMBIBE and sneak in?

Did anyone get an email for the presale yet?

Edit: Never mind, read the email wrong. 9:45pm tonight.

Wanted to give a plug for Temple Bar at Ashland/Wellington. Had Straight Jacket there about a week ago at $7 for 10oz, which was far better than anywhere I'd seen it recently. Stopped in again tonight after the gym and was surprised to see that after two pours of it, I still hadn't met my credit card minimum of $10. Thursday is $3 domestic craft.

Bottom line: 30oz of Straight Jacket and Two Brothers Cabinet of Curiosities = $12

Great workout recovery.

In for Friday as well. Dat extra hour is clutch.

1:30hrs if they let us in early and we can avoid crazy nazi lady.

Lady - "HEY. STOP POURING THAT!"

Perennial guy - "....huh? this? *keeps pouring me BA abraxas*"

Lady - "YES THAT! STOP IT RIGHT NEEYOW!!"

*taster is already full*

Me- "thanks man!" *cartoon woosh cloud*
