Their lager game is strong, and it was the one that was categorized as a "Czech Pilsner" at Off Color

Oh Ok different beers then as that was You Never Take Me Anywhere Nice which I was actually underwhelmed by. Heliostat was legit however.

Transient Reserve Members!

It is my great pleasure that I may welcome you to the first session of our barrel aged membership program. I cannot thank you enough for the support and trust you have shown by joining, and am excited to do everything possible to make your effort worth while. For those who have been clamoring for a release date, it has finally been confirmed!

***************SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7TH!!!!!***************

The first release will take place at One Trick Pony's new brewery (which is right down the street from the old brewery) in Lansing, IL. You will be able to come down at any point during the release hours (likely 12-4pm) and pick up your bottles and other merchandise. There will be some extra bottles for sale at this point, along with beer on tap (plenty of special beers being tapped throughout the day) for you to enjoy. Parking will be limited and beer will be plentiful, so please arrange car pools/sober drivers. I will provide further details on the release as it approaches.

Thanks again,
Chris Betts

Also, Fierce is hitting shelves. No CCBE post about it yet, so you may be able to get some. Picked mine up at the place on Damen and Addison. WLV also posted they have it, but I ain't going there.

None out in the NW Burbs yet. Hoping for this week sometime.

What kind of dipshit buys 2 bottles of beer and then asks the internet how they taste instead of just opening one?

Save the date, y'all - Revolution's Octoberfest party is set for Oct. 4.

I don't know anything else and I'm kind of drunk.

Oh, here's something - 'Twee Gene (dry-hopped porter coming in between Wee Gene and Eugene, body-wise) might as well be dark-brown carbonated cat piss. Sour, grassy and... just gross. I can't believe they even put it on draft.

Rev needs to step their game, have not been impressed lately and that's coming from someone that loves Rev

i hope they're readying something; i don't think they've kicked out a barrel aged bottle since straight jacket. i mean, i could drink straight jacket all day, but it's a bit weird to not really have heard anything from that department in many months.

Anybody know if One Trick Pony/Transient has TVs? NFL Opening Day. A little disappointed by the timing of the bottle release, but hopefully the beer makes up for it.

I emailed Betts about picking up my bottles another day because of this (Bears home opener) and he said:

"I am aware of the bears game, and hopefully we will have it on during the event. It was just the only workable day. If you can't attent then you may pick up any day at the brewery following."

One Trick just moved down the street to a new location so I'm not sure, haven't been there yet. A few of us were discussing this problem as well. Perhaps a little bit of complaining to Chris would help the situation and have him change the hours. I'd like for it to be later on in the day, or even Saturday.

Edit: Well, danbanana just answered some of our questions. I'm pulling for that "hope" to turn into a "yes".

I hope it gets pushed back later as well. Will be up in WI fishing that weekend and would suck if I have to miss the Sunday morning bite.

You guys are the best. Haha. Thanks for supporting my laziness and getting my questions answered without even having to ask them. Sounds like I'll have to weigh the fun of opening day of Transient vs the buzz of opening day of the NFL. Contemplating getting to Transient early to pick up and have one beer, then heading home hopefully by the time the second half of the early games start. It'd be so much easier if the NFL hadn't put 80% of the games at Noon that weekend. Life is pretty damn good when major decisions include hanging out at a brewery versus watching football.

Is it worth the $35 or whatever they charge?
Probably? It kind of depends on how much you want a branded liter stein. I would love to see a lower price with no stein but it's not my event. They are running out of space, though - hopefully they'll be able to use the area out back. The atmosphere is good the crowds are generally manageable. It might depend on what sort of entertainment they bring in - bands or carnival games or what.

It sounds like they're going to be a doing a lot more with coffee this year - including a coffee Deth's Tsar (which may have showed up briefly under the name Buzz Alderaan). Maybe they're taking a page from Goose's barrel-aging playbook and letting the barrels "rest" for a winter and summer before bottling. Speaking of Deth's Tsar, I opened a bottle last week and it's pretty ******* good. Much better than when it came out.

Also, and not to sound like a total Rev apologist, but this time of year is usually pretty 'meh' from them since they're lagering so much Octoberfest. They don't have enough spare capacity to even keep up with Eugene.

Bears before Beers any day. A beautiful marriage of both would be primo though, I would love to be slamming sours while Cutty drops dick on the Bills.

I said to a lot of not listening ears that Deth's Tar would evolve into an awesome beer. Their barrel aged stuff is a lot like BCS to me: while some people enjoy the booziness of the beer, I think it rounds out and becomes a much better beer with about a year of aging on it.

I thought the bottle of Deth's Tar we opened about a month ago was outstanding, while I didn't enjoy it too much fresh, but that was only from the pour on tap I had at the release. Also opened a 2012 VMC couple months ago that was surprisingly great even though when I had it with 9-10 months on it, it was kinda gross.
