I look forward to hearing about how crazy this release is after last year's easy VSB release.

It'll totally still be available that afternoon, right? I'm sure.

I wouldn't put money on it, but tomorrow would be the day it would. We got to Madison last year at 3 and VSB was long gone by then.

750 tickets gone by 9:25. I am surprised.

Yea for Friday morning lineups! I guess that means Saturday and Sunday will be way less of a thing...am i right? I kid I kid...we be ******.

Yeah if I didn't already have a hotel room paid for tonight and hadn't gotten the kids all hyped up to go tubing I'd be rethinking my plans for tomorrow morning. Last year was a leisurely stroll around the grounds with my kids and my wife and I getting our VSB allotments with no hurry.

GI Clybourn is releasing another small batch bottle soon per their twitter.

They just tapped the following which has the potential to be this release

Start your weekend off early, and stop in for our latest Beer Premiere!
RAISIN IN THE SUN—Barrel-Aged imperial Rye Stout, Deep mahogany color, dried fruit aroma, sweet raisin and bourbon flavor, medium-rich body. Aged in Elijah Craig bourbon barrels and finished with Golden Raisins (9.5%).

What a difference a day makes.
Seemed like NG just might've been caught off guard with the early turn out Friday. Felt like there were a lot more people today than Friday too yet there were still 70 tickets available after the initial line got their bottles. Hmmmmm....

Yeah, I don't understand how there were fewer people there today than Friday? Also they made some nice improvements in the process and the line moved quickly once it started going. Really well-run beer release with gorgeous weather to boot, and I always love having a couple beers on the patio there.

Was good to see jdhende, eorwar, and maximthegreat (and probably other TBers I didn't recognize because I rarely get out to beer stuff these days).

To me, it felt like there were more today. I think a lot of people realized how easy it was to grab extra tickets Friday morning and that contributed it to selling out so quickly. NG definitely made the right changes to stop that **** today though. I bet bottles last even longer tomorrow if they use the same system.
And the weather was amazing both days! Had a great time with my wife, sister and friends and got to chat and share beer with some awesome Sconnies. Can't believe I was hearing so many negative things bout the release both days.

I only went to today's release so I can't speak on Friday's events. But I find it hard to believe there were less than 750 people in line today. Here is a shot from the steps heading up to the bottle sales. I was ticket number 188 and I have to believe that is more than 500 people behind me. The line wraps around the parking lot and down the hill.

All that being said, the release was easy and stress free. Everyone had a good time and it moved smoothly and quickly. Weather was perfect to be outside and enjoy the day. Plus it sounds like everyone went home happy.

I was curious, how early were people at the front showing up today? We rolled in around 7:30 and were in the 420's.
And I don't know how anyone can leave that place unhappy, even if they missed out on bottles Friday. Disappointed, sure, but pissed and unhappy? I love every trip up there and it keeps getting better.
I also noticed they're offering a larger tap selection than before. Just wish they would put Scream on!

I got a little freaked out from the feedback from yesterday's release so I got there around 6:45. I know the first person in line got there around 2:00AM, it was a group of two. Looking back, I could have come later but oh well weather was awesome and I enjoyed myself. Couldn't agree with you more, people should really make it a habit to visit NG other times besides this weekend. It's one of my favorite places and the beer gardens are hard to compare, the view is fantastic, they did a great job. Despite the large turnout, the gardens did not feel crowded and it didn't take more than 2 minutes to get a refill. Kudos

We arrived around 8 and I was number 508. There weren't even many people behind us for at least another 30-45 minutes.

Yeah, I suspect a lot of people went straight to Madison after getting their Wild Peach, which worked out well for the rest of us. I am more than OK with that setup every year so I can drink on the patio without being butts to nuts, especially with Strawberry Rhubarb on tap (is it just me or was this better than it is out of the bottle?).

Yeah that's what happened last year for VSB on Saturday. The back patio was cleared out by 11-12:00. Yesterday even sooner since they started sales earlier.
And I could not agree more about that SR on tap. Everyone in my group agreed too. I'm not a huge fan of it out of the bottle but god damn it was delicious yesterday on tap. Tasted nearly exactly like those hard strawberry candies that are wrapped in the foil that looked like a strawberry.

Friday, we heard they were opening the coolship room and fruit cave to the public so we headed down there expecting to see a NG employee. Nope, it was Deb sitting there with their dog. Was great getting that one on one chance to talk about beer and local sausages with her.
And even took some licks, with her chastising me for holding onto a couple bottles of Belgian Red from 2011.
Was a real shame seeing so many empty bottles laying around the patio grounds after the herd left Friday morning though. They didn't deserve that disrespect this weekend.
