I read it as Rue d'Floyd for some reason too. Didn't drop the coin on the other one though based on the ****** reviews of the Bruery version. Rue was pretty good, probably not $30 good though. We'll see how this BB sour is.

Pipeworks Brewing plans new brewery, distributing beer in cans
Some choice quotes include:

Pipeworks will can five year-round beers, Lewis said: Ninja vs. Unicorn (an imperial India pale ale), Close Encounter (a hoppy stout), Blood of the Unicorn (a hoppy red ale) and two new beers — a pale ale made with Mosaic hops and a lower alcohol Belgian-style beer. The four-packs will be priced between $9.99 and $11.99.

Sounds good to me (though I'd personally rather see End of Days than Close Encounter in 4-packs).

Pipeworks ... has easily sold every drop of its production so far, and extending to 6,000 barrels of beer likely won't slow its sales.

Fair point, I guess, but walk into any liquor store and see if retailers have managed to sell every drop so far.

"Growth beyond [Chicago-land] would have to happen organically," Lewis said. "If the beer continues to sell itself, we'll continue to make more of it. The moment we have to start competing to sell beer, that's when we know it's time to slow down. Hopefully that won't come for a long time."

That is patently ridiculous that Gerrit doesn't think they're already competing. It reminds me of a 2-part interview the Reader did with Laffler recently (was that posted here? -- part 1 & part 2). There are some parts that are horribly self-absorbed, including Laffler pointing out that he never really had to deal with the mundane tasks of making wort (a point which some brewers are still bitter about, based on conversations I've overheard at the Castle Vav tap room). But he also points out,

We probably sell 40 percent of our beer to the national market. So we're a small brewery in Chicago, and we have beer in 23 states, I think.

Considering how (over-)saturated Chicago seems to be at the moment, it may behoove Pipeworks to follow Off Color's lead and embrace a wider distribution model sooner rather than later.

Just a note to let you know we are in the process of interviewing and seeking a new Illinois beer distributor. If you happen to know of someone, please let us know. We are re designing our package and will re-release this fall in 12oz 4 pack bottles. We hope some will be available her at home.

I think their stuff is always re-donkulous priced outside of Chicago.

But if they mess with Troublesome 6 packs for ~$10 I will be very sad. I think that beer disappears faster than anything else I buy once I buy it. I could (and usually do) drink it almost every day.

I'm definitely not complaining. I can get the sixers of Troublesome down here for $8.

And $7.99 for a 4-pack of Apex Predator is an absolute steal. Less than half the price of Saison Dupont 4-packs (when you can find them).
