Anyone know if any of the big stuff is still on tap at Haymarket today? They tweeted that "Uber Mathias & Chocolate Coffee Smoked Porter are going fast" but what about the BA stuff? (Raspberry Stout, Quad, Barleywine ...) Was hoping to swing by and fill some growlers.

That clare's raspberry stout on draft was really good. Best beer I've ever had from Haymarket.

I just got back from lunch there, actually, and I agree with your assessment (I took home 32 oz of it). The double-hopped BA barleywine, Templeton BA quad, and Uber Mathias were all excellent as well. I think everything from Sunday is still on tap, though they're running low on a couple things (including the three I mentioned but it sounds like they're OK on the raspberry BA Clare's for now).

TIL: If you like Bramble Rye, you should try Clare's Thirsty Ale.

They are doing growlers of Clare's Thirsty Ale? Not listed for growlers on beermenus.

I heard news awhile back Haymarket was eventually going to bottle. I really hope that is true. I think they are really hitting their stride with their offerings lately.

That would be awesome if so. Their BA stuff, in my opinion, is much better than most breweries' BA programs.

I haven't seen any mention of this on the usual sites so... maybe it won't be super-crazy crowded?

Hahaha... I know, good one.

With the Chicago market getting 300 cases of Surly Darkness and Binny's alone getting 160 of them, I can't wait to see the ridiculous ISO posts around the interwebs on Monday afternoon. It's going to get FIBtastic I bet. Can't wait for ISO West Ashley FT 3 Darkness!

It's gonna be hilarious.

Binny's is averaging 5 cases or so per store? Jesus, we are ******* spoiled.

But it is far far less than what was released at Darkness Day. My point is, why should they reward people from their hometown who couldn't bother to support them directly.

To be fair, some people might have had more important things to do than beer on the one day it was at the brewery.
So they would have time to hunt store to store the one weekday it was around town?

And that's not even the point. The point is the Twin Ccities market received many multiple times the amount as Chicago via the brewery sale.

When, oh when, will the beer Gods stop discriminating against Chicago?!?

All I'm saying is your implication that someone who didn't go to Darkness Day doesn't support Surly is ridiculous. Do I really need to give an example of how someone might have other life obligations one weekend but be free another weekend? BTW, I could care less what Surly does with their Darkness.

Lolwut?

I think your need to read that again to regain a little context. I'm not saying anyone who didn't attend DD doesn't support Surly. Simply that I do not feel sympathy for the locals who missed out on Darkness. I'll recap it for you:

The vast majority of Darkness was sold at Darkness Day in the Twin Cities. Surly then distributed a bunch to stores in the Twin Cities. Then Surly decided to send some to Chicago, which a Twin City native (I assume) wasn't happy with since it is more than they distributed across the Twin Cities.

I'm also not interested in buying any Darkness in Chicagoland. No skin in the game here.

Word via BA is that Chicago got an extra special, "brewed for Chicago-only" batch. Same color wax, though, so have fun figuring out that "trade value'.
Your information is bad and you should fee bad.

And for the record, Minneapolis alone got more than 300 cases. Add in St. Paul, the metro area, Rochester, Duluth, Moorehead, etc. I'm sure MN ended up with 10 times what was sent to Chicago without accounting for D Day.

And we, too, got more bottles just this week.

TLDR: if you're trading IP Chicago they should go 1:1 with Prop.
