1st sesh the last two years and it has been terrible both times. Pour it out in the buckets terrible. Pretty sure I'm not the only one with this experience, but whatever floats your boat. Not trying to start some CA-style homie war.

Can confirm. Sucked ass last two years.

From a guy who lives a 5 minute walk from Revolution and tried to get into their beers. They don't put out anything mind blowing. Their beers are OK but nothing to get excited about, expressly when you get Chicago Distro stuff. Stouts are way to thin.

We are hating on FFF right now, not Revolution. Keep up. :p

Oh let me put my thinking cap on so I can pay attention

yea i dumped my pour of BA Behemoth in a bucket and went back to mixing the sisters and getting mixes of sixteen and wild one from bells

Speaking of Revolution, the Tap Room is completely out of Bean Gene and I don't think there's much Mean Gene left, either. Apparently, the sales team flagged everything for distribution so the 30 cases of Bean Gene that they were expecting to sell direct got sent out. Bean Gene turned out pretty well this year, I thought, and would have liked to get a couple of bottles at the (slightly) discounted tap room price. They're also finally sold out of Fistmas.

looks like i'm gonna be coming back to town flying in on January 13th Monday and will be heading out shortly after normal business hours on Wednesday the 15th.

Big difference in this trip is I'll be visiting and staying near our downtown office on S Michigan Ave.

Would love to meet up with local TB'ers and pop some bottles/in person trading/sharing pints at a good spot on Monday and/or Tuesday evening in the area. I won't have a car while in town this time, but I'm not affraid of navigating my way through public transportation either.

Anyone up for it? Converse with me/post here/whatever you FIBs prefer.
Any recommendations while I'm in town? Bottle shops? Watering holes? Closer to where I'm staying, the better...

I saw Lemon Tree Grocer on Beermenus has it for $21  Who the f!@$ is going to pay that?

Oh Lemon Tree... That place used to be awesome, but now they overcharge and, more alarmingly, buy Zombie Dust and pub-only bottlings from FFF and re-sell them at their shop.

I blame SpdKilz.

I remember getting the 3 Sisters there for like $12 a bottle due to getting 20% off by joining their loyalty program.

I definitely bought a boatload of the 2010 Sisters there. Then their beer guy left for Tribes in Mokena. And now he's watching the Hawks games from the Wirtz box with Rocky.

so.... Solemn Oath just released their first solo bottled beer, Combat marshmallow. Who is excited!!!

He is

Oh my gosh. I still remember responding to your post while driving to my sister's and being like "Who the **** do these stupid Chicago people think they are...first this oreo ******* ignores my private messages about meeting up with the Chicago crew, then this "high fiving" supposed nice guy is giving me ****."

;) Glad I was wrong about ya'll. Smooch.

Sadly, you were right about all of us.

I assumed by the way Solemn Oath talked about it that it was only available at the taproom, but it looks like Beer Temple got some? It looks like Midnight Brett is hitting now too.

It's hitting all over Chicago -- I picked up a couple today. Same shop also had Midnight Brett.

Also, if anyone wants me to "goPickItUpFromAtlantaForMeBro," message me. Think Terrapin, Sweetwater, Red Brick, etc. No guarantees on what I can get though and you'd have to meet me somewhere in the city to pick it up.

Yeah Picked up both from Beer Temple today. I grabbed the 2nd to last of each. Also indulged in the 5 year vert. of big hugs, and got a little buzzedo_O. Any one pick up Ivan the terrible today. Surprised Beer Temple didn't have it.

Did anyone outside of Binny's get it? Binny's had their own barrel so I'm curious if it's only their barrel that went out today.

That said this was ******* scarce around town last year.

Edit: Talkin' bout Ivan.

Is Ivan any good? Old Blue Hair was a disaster and I don't have high hopes for the bottle of Kriek I have sitting in the basement...

I liked last year's Ivan a lot. I don't know that it was particularly different from other BA stouts, but I thought it was a particularly good one. I have a couple bottles of this year's version that I'm looking forward to trying.

Seawatchman ( link or whatever) is single handily responsible for big sky kriek, if you like it, thank him for all his hard work
