Damn man, 9 bones for a 12 ouncer? Too rich for my blood, t'ain't worth it.
$8.50/bottle = $26 a 4 pack which is a little more than bcbs (or $16/bomber). So I guess you haven't bought bcbs, kbs, black note 4 packs or $16 bombers then?

BCS is $5-$5.50 a bottle and head & shoulders better than barrel aged milk stout

Central Waters BBBW is like $3 a bottle

Founders Backwoods Bastard are also $3-$3.50 a bottle.

The Pipeworks beers were solid to good at FOBAB, but I don't see much reason to hunt them down when there are cheaper and better alternatives available.

I absolutely have bought those, but to me, those are tried and true outstanding beers. I'm tired of paying $11.99 for a bomber of good (at best) Pipeworks beers. And I'm not saying all of them, but I'm looking at you Cash for Golden Ale, End of Days, Close Encounter, Well Read Temptress, Last Kiss, Pineapple Bling, Centennial Ninja...

Fair points all around -- but will there be any rarer alternatives available?! FwB is ~100 people (I think). Whalez, yo!!

Pipeworks' barrel-aged beers are going to be released soon. It's not clear, but I think they're exclusively for people in their Friends With Benefits program for the time being (and possibly their Sloppy Seconds group, if/when that gets off the ground). Limit will be 2 12oz. bottles/person @ $8.49/ea.

1. Murderous English-style Barley Wine aged for 8 months in Elijah Craig 12 year old barrels, 11% ABV
2. Last Kiss Wee Heavy aged for 9 months in Buffalo Trace barrels, 11% ABV
3. Imperial Jones Dog Milk Stout aged for 10 months in Heaven Hill barrels, 11% ABV

couldn't find anything about these programs online...are they available to out-of-towners with trustee kind of setups?

They were available to out of towners and there is a trustee system in place. If they open up sloppy seconds and you want in I'll gladly trustee for you.

I've had good luck in the past swapping random BA FFF for local waelz.

Believe me, I know there are good deals to be had. I've only purchased a quarter of the Prop's I have now. But buying a $30 FFF bottle hoping to trade it for a $20 Goose Island bottle seems like a waste of funds and effort. Surely you have something interesting (in the eyes of these young, rakish neckbeards) in your stash that you can part with.

Wait, are we negotiating?

To celebrate the grand opening of The Beer Cellar in Glen Ellyn in early January, I will be working closely with owner, Dave Hawley, to organize a "sneak peak" event featuring the Bourbon County 2013 lineup on Thursday, January 2nd at 7pm.

In addition to getting a first look at the the western burb's newest craft beer haven, Dave will be introducing his plans for a Rare Beer Club and other member perks.

Seats at this event will be very limited and will cost $35. Each ticket will also include one lottery entry for the right to buy a bottle of Proprietor's!
