My two favorite stores got exactly zero cases of coffee between them ... last year we saw at least two shipments of coffee, so maybe we'll get that this year too.

I know of one store that's waiting to sell their allotment on Friday at 5 -- who knows how early people will be lining up so I've already said to hell with it.

As far as trading, I was thinking of offering a King Henry or Bramble 1:1 for a Coconut but it doesn't seem like that will work (I know, throw up an ISO/FT and see what happens -- and I will, depending on how this week goes).

Let me know. I'd do that trade in a heartbeat.

Now that The BCBS tsunami has largely receded, we can turn our attention to the next release. Ripped from the other site via an email from Dark Matter:
Big Hugs Release Party
Sunday, December 15th at Half Acre Beer Tap Room
This year also marks the 5th release of our collaboration beer with Half Acre Brewing, Big Hugs! Join us at the Half Acre Tap Room, 4257 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60618
More details to follow.

Unrelated but I'm kicking myself for not picking up more of the Goose Sisters from Whole Foods on Friday for 25% off. Granted, I was a little focused on some other beers from Goose Island that day but still! Would have picked up more Gillian at $23/bottle if I had been thinking straight.

am i weird that I dont like Gillian that much at all and certainly not for that kinda money
Yes. Total weirdo.

j/k

But not really.

j/k... again

Back to BCBS, Jerry's in Wicker Park has this year's bombers for $38 and 12oz. bottles for $15. So if anyone really, really, really wants to try them...

Three Floyds just released Backmasking in bombers (on draft also). Pretty solid and drinkable outmeal stout the last time I had it.

Jewel on State at Grand has about 4 cases of regular BCBS that just hit the floor (I was the first one to pick some up!). $20.99/4-pack. No variants.

Anyone seen variants at Jewel or Dominicks? Checked in the West loop area but haven't seen any bcbs at either yet.

Nothing yet this year, but last year my local Jewel did (eventually) get a couple cases of coffee bombers, so there is still hope?

Part of me was hoping that this would have stayed under the radar (call me an optimist - again, I haven't started drinking yet today). Posted now on Goose's events page and BA:

Via your source(s), any idea what kind of beer it even is? Heritage malt (the hell?) and experimental hops doesn't tell me ****.
The mystery hop doesn't have a name yet. It was bred on an AB hop farm. The heirloom malt is an old malt that used to be a favorite in the craft world in the 80's called klages.

There's a joke to be made about how klages sounds like an STD you pick up while in a Czech hostel but I'll just link to the new label for Goose's The Illinois:

I dig it even if it's a big departure from their other labels. At that lie-filled Black Friday tasting, they suggested 14 new beers in 2014. I guess this is one of them? Even though it debuted this year?
