One Lake Brewing

The family and I did a lunch on Saturday at One Lake. Second trip review:
- Something I didn't express in my first write-up was that the space is very nice, with two floors and a rooftop deck. I was surprised how nice the deck was; They even have a bar space up there, with two medium sized TVs that had college games on. It's not the best view in the world but it's good outdoor drinking.
- Food- which I hadn't had prior- was above-average bar fare with interesting choices beyond the standard burger.
- I had a tall pour of the Kentucky Common and it was the best beer I've had from them. Every version of this style I've had has had a lacto-tartness to it; this one was clean. A little caramel-y, pretty drinkable. Good beer. I also revisited their standard pale ale and it was better than I remember but still not great. Also did the milk stout and it was about what I remember.

Overall, a better experience but still not a must-visit or anything. Proximity is it's best selling point to me.

We also did Haymarket this weekend. I hadn't been in a couple years and I forgot how good that kitchen is. The Defender was good as always.

They also still have a few to-go cans of Clare's from last December's release. I snagged two, despite the high price ($11 per). Opened one last night and found it pretty enjoyable. Heavy fruit but the roasty base beer wasn't completely covered up. As good as I remember, taking into account how rare something like this was the last time I had it.

When you see middlebrow at the bungalow and all he says is "Didn't you move?"
I was very hungover with like 2 hours of sleep. I could’ve come up with something snappier like “this ain’t clybourn and it’s not 2013, what are you doing at a brewpub at 10am on a Sunday?”

Wait, you mean he finally took his first shift?!
I’m a utility player- events, building ****, cleaning ****, moving ****. Kids are outta daycare in May 2020, it’s 19 months away, not that anyone’s counting down everyday. It’s a real hoot watching from the sidelines as something u started is in bon appetit top 50 new restaurants or Pete and Bryan stop natty juice in Sonoma. It doesn’t make u regret yr choices at all.

Sucks to have kids...oh, wait a second

to be clear, you're not doing a great job of counting if you think may 2020 is 19 months away

Been waiting a bit to try more of their beers before posting in here but Roaring Table in Lake Zurich is doing great things. Solid NEIPA, great oatmeal stout, schwarzbier, fruited sour, etc. Def worth checking out..
Got to try an early pull from their foeder which is aging a Saison, tasted great - nice amount of funk, not too sour, almost reminded me of a Hill saison.

Check it out if you are in the area

Finding myself way out that way this weekend and hoping to squeeze in a stop here.

Any more recent updates? It looks like this is on our direct route, but are Flesk/Onion/Emmett's/Buffalo Creek worthy of a detour at all? Also cans could help justify a stop. Going to a birthday party thingy where I am told beer pickens will be v slim.

Consume in LZ usually has a solid tap list and there is a bottle shop there too. Check beer menus.

I think your best bet is Roaring Table, they just started to can/bottle - and also fill crowlers. So you could easily bring a few things to the party. Try before you buy.
Their Who Rescues Who beer is great and 2.50 of every pint/crowler goes to local dog charities.
As Flies To Wanton boys is juicy and really nails the NEIPA style.
They are bottling a BA Galaxy Dry Hopped Farmhouse/Saison that sounds awesome, hoping it delivers.

If you are looking for another place to drink, Consume usually has a nice taplist - and some great whiskey (albiet rather pricey). My only gripe is that every single ******* beer is served in a tulip - regardless of style. Makes 0 sense to me.
There is a Binnys right down the road on 12 as well. If you are looking for other packaged products.
