Posted in the random beer thoughts thread, but haven't you folks tried the Bourbon County Barleywine randalls / infusions with coffee at FOBAB or other festivals before?

It's always been extremely delicious, and while I wish Bourbon County Coffee (OG) was going to be around this year, this isn't a bad replacement at all.

i have to imagine a perfectly paired coffee with sucaba would be simply the most perfect beer ever created.
If we're dreaming... can we also get perfect coffee pairings for Fremont Batch 1000/2000 and Rev VSOJ?

Beer Temple's taplist is so ******* weird in the best possible way. Nothing like having an Arabier on draft while a giant jug of Frederiksdal cherry wine stares into your soul.

Every once in a while the bartenders will humor me and fill their 2L "display" boot with cask beer.

I should really talk to quinnsi about getting a personalized boot.

Indeed, it is not a bad replacement at all.

Coffee Barleywine was one of the highlights of the last good FoBAB down in Bridgeport. I'm in.

The BCBS Article said:
Early reports about this year’s Bourbon County beers lineup, based on federally-approved beer labels this summer, apparently included a few red herrings, including stouts made to resemble Neapolitan ice cream and horchata.

Setting aside the reasoning for getting bogus labels approved to "throw beer nerds", you better make ******* sure the real beers sound better than the fake ones. Orange stout and coffee barleywine?? SMGDH.

Boy, the REALLY got me thinking they had their finger on the pulse! I guess I should be grateful neither of them are Werther's Originals with Anaheim chile mash.

im certainly no marketing wiz but why release fake labels that would make modern beer nerds super pumped and then go psyche...its just a rebrew of some old ones you liked and had before.

EDIT - better joke...this is literally the physical embodiment of “anyways, heres wonderwall"

heres my theory...

they added the cold brew to the wrong beer.
explains the lack of bcbcs and NORMAL bcbbw.

obvious answer is obvious. theyre just dumb and were trying to cover their mistakes with fake labels... basic diversion tactics

Exactly. How is intentionally creating higher expectations for your brand than you plan to deliver, a good business decision? Did someone think this was going to be a Hulk Hogan joining the nWo level swerve? In reality it came out looking like the Vince McMahon's illegitimate son reveal.

Do beer people actually go to these pop-ups? I mean, besides Natty wine boi thetomG ?

I've gone to a few. The Run the Jewels one was cool. I wanted to go to the Warpigs one but skipped it when they put out almost nothing new but the standard 3 they already sell in cans year-round.

Yes and they are always fun. Whoever thought of turning that space into a popup is a wizard. It always does well and was empty all the time when it was the surf bar.

The last day of the first Pipeworks one was crazy, they just kept putting on different BA stouts. I thought I was going to be there for an hour or so and ended up staying all evening.
