Any transient Buckley fans think yesterday's wasn't as good as previously? I tried asking Chris the age of coffee and something about maple but he yelled at me and said he was coming over to my booth to **** on my beer. I dropped the line of questioning.
This batch of Buckley was only 2 weeks old. He said the batch at the party had proper aging time.

My strategy for events like StoutFest is to drink what I like and/or beers I can realistically buy again at some point. I probably miss out on a lot of things but whatever. I would have liked to have tried 18th Street just so I can see what the fuss is over these Hunter beers. If this batch of Buckley wasn't as good as it should be - holy hell because I thought it was fantastic. Sesame Joe was weird.

Hate to complain about how things used to be but... it was nice when Goose sent random one-off batches of BCS rather than the standard line-up of whatever variants they made the previous fall. I thought it was wise to close the pub to non-StoutFest goers. I felt for the wait staff trying to help people who ordered food. Not sure it was wise to pack the patio with brewers at the expense of tables (and navigability). They likely sold more tickets, though, right? There were times when it was oppressively crowded and smelled like stale farts so you always had to keep moving to find a cooler, emptier spot.

I did try Hailstorm's beers - blech. Very thin and unbalanced. Almost asked them, "So, what the **** is Hailstorm?" just so that danbanana could get an answer but decided against it and had another glass of Indignant instead. Hailstorm does have its own van, though, and they totally hogged the best parking spot in the lot.

Just started looking at the CCBE. Holy *********ville USA. But now I know where all the whalez can be found and slated mwuahahahaha.

So you're saying I shouldn't line up for their next release? What the **** did I buy this folding lawn chair for?

As is often the case, Rockwell's has a great draft list right now, but is terrible at updating beermenus. They last updated 10 days ago, and show 6 drafts. I *think* the only one of the 6 that might be right is the pils. They have at least 10 options, which as of last night, included BCBBW (can't remember if it was '13 or not), AV Blood Orange Gose, Pt5, and Todd the Axeman (none listed on beermenus currently).

CCBE is making me laugh this morn....people trading props for KBS & hunas. Seems like everyone is chasing some websites BS top 20 and giving up gems for beers that broke ground but we're ultimatly done better by 20 other breweries.

Those threads always seem to start out so normally ("just bring what you like, especially local stuff, and everyone around you will be happy to get a taste") before spiraling into a swirling toilet of dick-swinging ("break out ur whalez! Imma bring a DB Huna vertical!").

We've got another Penrose release out here in suburban Iowa for those that are interested. Bottle release this Saturday and Anniversary Party on Sunday. http://penrosebrewing.com/events/detail/bottle-release-single-barrel-21 Maybe I'll see some of you Sunday. Should be some cool stuff on tap. I'm planning on a fun Sunday. My guess is you'll see a pretty good crew on Sunday. I plan on bringing some fun bottles to share. Based on the $15 bottle price/style/size, I'm bringing a Beatification for sure so I can give Tom **** if it doesn't match up.

it's precisely why when i invite people to a bottle share that i outline any written or unwritten expectations about what people should be bringing. on the rare time when i host a share at my place and have newer people to the beer game there, my usual recommendation is 'don't bring something you bought at the gas station on the way to my place' and that's really it.

Are those Anni tickets being sold at the brewery itself or online? I don't think it specifically said.
Sounds like a good time, but there's no way I'd be able to make it to the brewery for them.

At the brewery at 1 on Wednesday probably a lot like the Spectral party tickets. No clue if these will also be two per person. May depend on turnout. I'm not sure how many they are selling. They sold the perfect amount of tickets for Spectral after overselling the **** out of a bbq event over the summer. They likely have it down to a science by now.

That's what I figured. Was hoping they'd throw some on BPT as well.

The best part of Stoutfest was leaving after a couple hours to go crush Lou Pepe Framboise & Kriek, Mamouche, Geuze and FW16 at the Binnys across the street. Sours taste even better when you're dying for anything that isn't a stout.
did you chase it with a pappy 10 by any chance? LP Binnys brought out the big guns to people that probably shoulndt have been playing with firearms.

Holy ****!! So many FIB's. Don't know where to start. Gonna randomly tag a few of you. powz87, Treebs, stxSS07, Lognar, willseph, jeblikesbeer, ApocalypseZombie, match1112 (maybe I can entice him to make the drive up....), etc.

I am flying in on Tuesday May 12th and flying out (early as ****) Saturday May16th. I will be staying at the Embassy suites (O'Hare/Rosemont) I will be pretty booked with customers most of the time but I should be able to break free Thursday and Friday night. Would love to touch tips...

Adding AleApostle to the list, if you don't mind. He might be up for this gathering, if he's around.
