Talked to Chris (Transient) at FoBAB for a while. He said that the email for the next re-up should be coming this week, or possibly the beginning of next week. He's been going back and forth on how he wants to handle the re-up for existing members as well as the new members he's letting in. I mentioned that I'll most likely pay the same price, but every six months I don't really need a new shirt, a new glass, a new tote, etc. So I'd need some added value there to justify paying the same price as new members. Now if it was different items every time I'd more obliged (different glass, different shirt, new swag), but he didn't seem too sure how he wanted to handle it going forward. So lookout probably with in the next week/ week and a half for the email.

What happened to him bringing beers to FOBAB? Didnt see a single Transient beer

A few of you guys noted Penrose Wild VII as a highlight. Any info on what that beer was? Hoping it hits the taproom locally at some point.

4 packs of Fractal and Desirous hit the market next week on the hoppy side from them.

On a non-barrel aged local note, I had Amarillo Clencher on tap this weekend from BuckleDown. That beer is like a blend of Sunny D and Five Alive. It was citrus juice. Close to blown away. Got it as part of a flight at a local joint with a great taplist. It's 8.1% so I couldn't just sit there and crush them, but wow was it worth getting if you're out and about.

Also, Wayward from Transient was outstanding. Two really great local hoppy brews that I had over the weekend. Just wanted to share that.

I noticed that their main beer page now lists them as part of the Year-Round series in place of Proto Gradus and Navette. Sort of weird given that I remember reading that they weren't going to go hoppy with their beers very often.

Good eye. I just noticed that as well. I thought Proto was pretty much the flagship. I'm shocked that Navette isn't part of that 4 pack. That beer always moves well at local bars. Interesting that these beers went from experimental batches a few months ago to requisites. It has to be based on sales/demand. There may or may not be an issue with Proto regarding pricing. Not sure what it costs to brew, but it just can't justify a $9 4 pack.

I'd love to see Session Brett and Coffee Navette as 4 packs released at least quarterly. I think those 4 packs could be justified at $11 based on tasting them at the tap room and being interesting versus the competition. Not really any beers like those 2 locally.

More beers are starting to get distro for kegs at least out here in Kane County. I had Wet hopped P2 and Coffee Navette at a bar this weekend rather than the taproom.

Just opened my second bottle of Wayward on saturday night. That beer is the truth.

Does anyone in here have an extra of the new BCBS snifter kicking around? Figured I'd ask before stalking inventory at the brewpub.

Probably available at the brewpub now or in the near future. Was surprised to hear they sold some online today and will ship them. Thought I had remembered GI Clybourn awhile back saying they wouldn't ship them due to them breaking frequently.

Oakbrook Binny's releasing 10% root beer bombers on Saturday at 9am.

Is this really what beer has come to?

Is Abraxas going to get any suburban distro? I know last year was a total crapshoot. West Lakeview seemingly had Abraxas available for a week in the city. I haven't heard anything beyond The Beer Temple bash last Friday. I'd get off my ass to find a bottle of that sweet goodness. Not drive to the city kind of get off my ass, but somewhere between that and a shoulder shrug on my care-meter.

Just got off the phone with Oak Brook and they're getting it, just not sure when.

To be 100% honest, I liked their original idea of bucking the hoppy trend. Unfortunately, their execution was (is?) full of beers that aren't remarkable enough to stand alone. I think Navette is the best regularish beer I've had of theirs. I find most of their stuff to be very light on the palate and "lawnmower-beery" for lack of a better term: nice and drinkable, but I'm not raving about it and I'm not going out of my way for it.

This sums up Chicago pretty nicely.

Confirmed this last night...so, so good! Got one left, but wishing I bought a couple more.

Fingers crossed for more at the release party maybe? I only got to try it thanks to a buddy sharing a bottle on Saturday. I'd definitely be stocking up if he had bottles at the release party.
