Hey brewers!

I'm looking to buy a fermenter where I am, and saw this one that states it doesn't need an airlock: https://minicerveceria.com/fermentacion/143-bidon-de-25-litros-con-tapa
(Google Translate can help you if not reading Spanish ;))

Anyone know the type of fermenter this is (crap photos as you can see), so I can check this is true? I tried Googling but couldn't find anything similar anywhere...

Cheers.

It sounds like it had a threaded lid with a Teflon (PTFE) gasket ... And they say if you don't tighten the lid, it will allow gas to escape.

That doesn't seem like the greatest idea, in my opinion.

You could always drill through the lid to install an airlock yourself.

Yeah it can't hurt to buy it and check it out when it arrives, but was curious if anyone had come across this type of fermenter before...

Could be similar to some of the mrbeer kits that have slots in the threaded portion to allow air to escape.

A one-way valve of some form is necessary, unless doing open fermentation, and that's an entirely different monster with its own processes.

Whether that's what the typical homebrewer would call an "airlock" is another story.
