My most recent batch, which was the subejct of a recent thread, was left with very little room in the headspace. Of course, during initial fermentation, I had several ounces of krausen travel through the blowoff tube into my sanitizer bucket. I'm not really concerned about this, but I was curious about something.

Does initial krausen have fermentation benefits to it that I've lost since it traveled out of my fermenter?

Fermentation is still ongoing, and is strong. Everything is on pace, and I'm not really concerned about this, but I was curious if you guys had any thoughts.

I'm curious about this too. I had to replace an airlock after a blow out with a blow off tube and I noticed a bunch of yeast in my sanitized water. I thought about washing it, but then just dumped it down the drain.

Should (or could) that yeast be saved? It would seem like the yeast that is blown out from the krausen like that would be the most active of the bunch.
