Everyone OK? It's pretty windy here in Richmond and it's pouring rain. The devil, I mean governor, declared a state of emergency. What I don't understand is why are schools and businesses open during a state of emergency? I didn't think you were suppose to be on the roads unless you were an emergency vehicle. It looks like Dude and the rest in E VA are getting it worse than we are.

Well, here in Chester we have got a lot of rain and wind but our power is still on, so I'll count my blessings. I noticed all the closings when I got up this morning but chalked it up to Virginia's normal over-reaction to inclimate weather. I haven't heard anything about a state of emergency, you would think they would make sure people know when one is declared (no crawl on any television channel). I guess I'm lucky that I don't have to work today.

Stay safe everyone,

The declaration of a state of emergency is usually just an early effort to lock in federal and state relief funds, not to give an accurate forecast of what conditions will really be like.

Hope everyone stays safe (and relatively dry).

Well, Capital One is shutting down so I'm at home. It looks like Hampton Roads and Norfolk are getting the worst of it. I hope I don't lose power or cable!

Rainin' like a mofo here, a little windy. We're getting some water in the garage, but I don't think anything will be damaged. I think Dude's area floods a little worse that where I live, though.

Should start tapering off in the next couple hours.

well i am about 2 miles from the ocean (damneck beach) and all i can say is that its windy and raining.

As long as i dont lose power its not am emergency at all.

The best part was that my class was cancelled (yay!)

We are totally without power--going on 15 hours now. The flooding was worse than expected, but we didn't have any kind of damage on anything.

Wish the damn power would come back. I'm posting from my brother-in-laws place right now. Hopefully we are back up by draft time tomorrow.

Both offices lost power and one of them is still out. House lost power for a couple hours but it's back now. Debris everywhere...

Hope you get power, Dude. It was indeed lame around here, as Walker-san points out. Guess that's a good thing, although I was really looking forward to a super-long weekend, instead of just a long one.

Sounding like you guys came thru intact tho. Was keeping an eye on it from the land-locked midwest. Glad to hear everyone is well! :mug:

Ize

We got a ton of rain but nothing like Dude. I was watching the weather channel all afternoon and richmond was always just on the edge of the yellow on the doppler max 3000. Apparantly 2 people out in E VA got crushed in their trailer by a falling tree, excuse me, modular home.

We never lost power and our house sits higher than most, so we never worry about flooding. When Gaston came through we lost power for only 3 1/2 days and that was a bad one, we must be lucky.
