Man...before I saw the first post and was just looking at the poll, and knowing who the OP was, I honestly thought that the "Edmund Fitzgerald" was some kind of rare sexual technique. Read it again. Tell me it doesn't make sense either way.

Eh? What's that you say?

You'd know iff your SWMBO likes the E.F. Trust me. :D

Gah, i only had the chance to try the EF once and i think i'd like it less than she would. Conceptually, i just couldn't have a porter and some raspberry weizen in the same night.

My god this thread is fllucking funny.

She'll have an EF with me, but usually on special occasions like my birthday or something like that.

I've tried to fly solo, but I can't finish one on my own.

Hmm..

I can see where that could come around and get you in the @ss.

And for just a while there...I thought this thread was taking a (mistakingly) legitimate turn...

SWMBO doesn't like the whole idea of Edmund Fitzgerald, but said she'd try one if I really wanted her to. I thought I might be able to get her into the style if she tried the Kona Brewing Company's Pipeline Porter from Hawaii at GABF.

What? She didn't care for the pipeline? She definitely won't like Edmund then.

Wife enjoys Edmund now and again. She definitely prefers it to go down slow and easy though... ;) I'm a big fan of it! One of my favorite beers!! I like Burning river though too! :mug:

A young lady (well, she wasn't THAT young) I met at a bar in Lake Tahoe once volunteered to try a bottle of Edmund Fitzgerald, but I decided too much yeast had settled at the bottom. In any case, I think she preferred it in the can.

SWMBO would hate it. She can barely get through a sweet cider, much less anything with hops and grain, much less roasted grain.
Jeebus on a pogo stick! I'm retarded.

My vote remains the same, though - a resounding, NO!

She prefers the flavor up front, with nothing bitter on the backside.

Yes, the wife will go for an Edmund Fitzgerald occasionally. She's even had one while playing the bean bag toss game.

Wifey and I are taking a kid-free trip this weekend, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to sample some Edmund Fitzgerald for the first time in ages. Doubtful I'll be able to get my hands on any, but if I'm ever to partake of this nectar again, this will be the weekend...

Make sure she doesn't have a big meal ahead of time. EF and big meals don't exactly go together.

I tried to get mine to enjoy a glass the other day. She took less than one sip and told me she would only go for Miller Lite. :(

I did manage to get her to have a little Cream Stout the other day.

Did you surprise her with the cream stout, or was that something she requested? There's nothing hotter than a woman asking to be served a cream stout.

Most women don't like to be surprised with cream stout, but if we're in the mood for it, it sure goes down good. Definately one of my favorites on a nice quiet night. I like it better than Edmund Fitzgerald, but there are a place for both.

My ex-wife was impartial to the E.F. She wasn't really a fan, but understood the merits. We had an agreement lined up though, after 9 cases of her preferred brew, we got a case of the Edmund for her.

I wasn't a fan of her swill, but every once in a while it felt good to fire up Mr Fitz and get a little rowdy.

I never got her to have the cream stout, though. I'll try to hook the next one up with some of that and see if that goes down well or not.

Nah, she never requests it but sometimes she's not opposed to it. Occasionally she'll humor me by taking a swig and then spitting it out in the sink but every now and then she can kick back an entire bottle.

Damn, Yooper... damn, your hubby know how lucky he's got it? ;)

Why do you think he married me? It sure wasn't for my great beauty! :D

Cheese, I think that's pretty understandable. I would think for alot of women that it would be tough to have a whole bottle of it in one sitting. It is some pretty potent stuff. Even though I'm a pretty big drinker, I definitely could not be able to drink two in one night, that's for sure.

The wife doesn't mind a cream stout, though she doesn't drink them as often as she used to (incidentally when we got married her taste for them seemed to wain). Her logic is once you've got the taste of a cream stout in your mouth, you might as well finish the bottle. Can't argue with that reasoning. :rockin:

So I need to find you early at NHBC. Is that what you're telling me?

Besides, I'm not a big fan of my woman drinking a stout with the backwash from someone else's stout in her mouth.

I've heard that washing your hair with beer is supposed to be good for it. Perhaps we can set something up for you.

The Contest:

November 10th is the 32nd anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. I propose an HBT challenge:

Can YOU sink an Edmund Fitzgerald this year? It's obviously a gentleman's bet, but post here if you manage to work in an E.F. on the night of 11/10. Better yet, get your wife to be photographed drinking a bottle of Edmund Fitzgerald Porter prior to the commemorization.

(The above picture is one of the lifeboats. Fittingly, it's Number 2.)

The 10th is a Saturday Night, so our chances of success are all greatly increased.
