Does anyone wife like to have a Cream Stout after an Edmund Fitzgerald? Am pretty sure a French Saison will be right out after that combonation.

You never go Edmund Fitzgerald to Cream Stout! Not with your wife.

So I need to find you early at NHBC. Is that what you're telling me?

Besides, I'm not a big fan of my woman drinking a stout with the backwash from someone else's stout in her mouth.

I've heard that washing your hair with beer is supposed to be good for it. Perhaps we can set something up for you.

Well, I'd never switch brands. Once you have one you like, that's the one you stick with. I'm just saying that even though I love a good cream stout I wouldn't want it twice in the same day.

And never an Edmund Fitzgerald first. Never. It's got to be an either/or. Oh, the Miller Lite goes fine with a cream stout. I'd definitely be able to have a Miller Lite before the stout but the EF would be a stand alone type beer. Some beers are just too big to mix with the lightweights.

Pah! If that were the case we'd all stick with near-beer.

Or you homebrew because you can't get the brands you like. I can "pretend" I'm drinking a real E.F.

You've got to be careful, too; if you start out with an Edmund Fitzgerald, then start drinking a Miller Lite, your batch can end up infected.

I definitely enjoy the occasional Cream Stout after a Miller Lite; so does SWMBO. But the EF first... Damn. Just ... no.

Unless you're cheese. That was one of the stipulations for his "interesting trades" on craigslist: EF to mouth :cross:

And correct me if I'm wrong, but did you just say that YOU enjoy the occasional cream stout? Really? I mean, I enjoy serving it to her...in a nice big glass of course...but I don't think I've ever had one myself.

'cept that one time when you were drinking alone, eh?

This may be the thread that ends up killing HBT. That, or by the time it gets old we'll have a Wikipedia of HBT euphemisms.

Just to clear things up, this is about getting your wife to drink Edmund Fitzgerald, unless you're the one who likes to drink it. Maybe you enjoy it. Maybe your wife has served it to you and you thought it was great. I doubt too many people here have a wife that buys her man some Edmund Fitz, but I don't know all of you that well. Maybe you enjoy a round of E.F. with your guy friends. Maybe you hide that fact from your Siggy Other, or maybe you have a really close friend and the two of you are proud of your E.F. love.

In any case, I'm closely monitoring Google to see when this shows up on the radar for the term Edmund Fitzgerald.

 Hrm... I certainly coulda worded that better. I meant I enjoy serving the occasional cream stout, of course... Cripes.

Ok, that last post pretty much put a fork in this thread. Thanks for the imagery.

Well, I'm happy to see that reports of this threads demise were greatly exaggerated.

Clearly, and not surprisingly, homebrewers are not put off by a little yeast imagery.

Even if SWMBO wanted to pull an EF 2 Cream Stout, I wouldn't do it. I don't think I could ever look at her the same again

Best. Thread. Ever.

I'm laughing so hard I'm crying.

I've mentioned the EF to the wife before, but she doesn't like dark beers. She'll occasionally drink a big cream stout. Mostly it's Miller Lite for me.

There are going to be a lot of very confused Gordon Lightfoot fans when that happens.

Anyone ever shaken up a bottle of cream stout and handed it to their wife to open?

My wife loves when I shake up the cream ale, but she likes to open it.

OK I have to know. I've heard of this beer called Cleveland Steam Beer, but I've never seen it. Has anyone tried it, and how did they like if so?

Never tried/saw that one either, but I would guess just before or after the Edmund Fitz would be good timing.

That's two HEAVY beers though-you might have a tough time convincing SWMBO to try both in one night.

This thread is too GD funny!

That's true, a nice tossed salad with a little bit of homemade dressing and an Edmund Fitzgerald are an excellent food pairing.

ROFL

oh, that's a great one... that made my day right there... :rockin:

Is that was one very well preserved, cold can of beer left in the wheel house of the sunken ship?

I heard a dive teem that visited the ship left a beer at the request of the daughter of one of the men who perished in that wreck. I don't recall they mentioned the particular brand.
