I'm ready to drill the tower hole in my Danby 4.4 cf refrigerator. It looks like most people are drilling 2" dia. holes. I built my tower from the BYO magazine plans...3" inside dia. PVC pipe. If I drill a 2.5" diameter hole, would there be increased cooling inside the tower without the addition of a small fan? Or am I now running the risk of touching the refrigerator light wiring?

Without a fan the cold is NOT going to go up into the tower. You could use a copper pipe around the beer line and run the copper down into the "cold zone" of the fridge. That will help to keep the beer line cold and minimize foam on your first pour.

The best way to cool the tower is with a fan. I tried the cooper pipes and it didn't really work. My pipes are only 3 inches into the fridge. More pipe may lead to better results.
