Late to the discussion, but I thought I would take another look at the "results" of the tasting. I figured that instead of taking the standard deviation, I would try to see what the numbers looked like just from the straight average. Only catch is I dropped off the low score and high score for each beer. I also removed Wooden Hell as it was not tasted blind like the rest. Here goes:

1) BCS BW and Kuhnhenn BB BW - 15.83 (tie)
3) King Henry - 15.66
4) Blendilicious - 14.66
5) Old Nuptial - 14.16
6) Dude's Bane - 14.00
7) Straight Jacket - 13.66
8) Bourbon Barleycorn - 12.83
9) Leon - 12.50
10) Deal with the Devil and BA Hifi - 12.33
12) CW BB BW - 12.16
13) Arctic Devil - 12.00
14) BA Behemoth - 11.83
15) 2000 Merlot Leviathan and BA Old Numbskull Rye - 11.66
17) Flossmore Fireside Chat and Pipeworks BA Murderous - 11.50
19) Alpine Great - 11.33
20) K13 - 11.16
21) Sucaba and BA Roosevelt - 11.0
23) Dry Dock Blighs - 10.66
24) Brandy Barleycorn - 10.16
25) MOAS - 9.66
26) Twisted Jim - 9.16
27) Old Abominable Red Wine - 8.50
28) Old Birdbrain - 6.0

Yes, I know, too much time on my hands.

Thanks man.

That Great is still anomalous to me.

And we tasted it second.

No problem. I think these this "adjusted" results rankings might better reflect what the majority thinks would have been the outcome. I still agree, Alpine Great being so low is an anomaly. Yet again, there are a number of things that could have been at play. Here are a couple thoughts:

- As alluded to before, it could be the 2013 blend was not as good as previous or hasn't had time to "age" to perfection. I think this might have also affected the Arctic Devil (2011 was much better than the 2013). Same with Abacus/Sucaba as I think B1 is/was superior to the newer batches as they have sinced ramped up production.
- You may have had a "bad" bottle. It happens in the wine world all the time (why not beer?).
- Being so early in the tasting, it might have been too cold? Just a thought.

I may just work on recreating this tasting with just the top 10 bottles (plus 2 versions of Great and Arctic Devil). I'll also have to add BA Church on a Hill (as I mentioned elsewhere).

Everyone has their "OMG THIS SHOULD HAV BEN INCLUDED" response, but at a certain point it just wasn't realistic, sure we could have omitted old birdbrain, but adding Xyauyu Barrel (the others are aged on stainless is my understanding) would have first 1) not been blind at all, a sherry port, completely still, would be so obvious 2) that beer would have been torn up relative to the other entries, i feel it stands on its own in the realm of Colossus/five squared/utopias as a sort of "super ale" others may disagree but I didn't put it in for those reasons.

not because i am a pussy ticker who cant land it.

the bottles were all the same temp, so i dont know what it was, perhaps having WH, then MOAS, then alpine had a cloying effect? I thought Great would have been top 5 at the least. If nothing else, me getting kicked in the dick will give the 312 contingency lulz for weeks, which is the ultimate goal of DDB in the end.

mission accomplished.

DDB Truthers say DDB is a deep cover agent for the FIBs on that false flag steeze.

I say my store had a shelf full of Straight Jacket last week and none this week.

You decide.

Oh I remember, I just wanted to give you an excuse to repost it. Your shipment of Malort barrel-aged 312 is on its way.

(I've actually never even tried this but I have one on my shelf set aside to Intihar soon.)
