We're going to need more info than that. What exactly do you mean by 'done your first keg'?

Hi I have put the beer in my keg as fermintation has finished. do i gas the keg or wait 10 days or so. i would say gas the keg to keep the beer in good condition just a bit confussed.

Cheers Bm63

It doesn't matter whether you carb the keg or not as long as fermentation is finished, it will age either way. How long has it been since you made your batch? As long as you wait at least two weeks after fermentation has stopped before you start to drink it it should be fine.

And welcome to the forum!

Yes,
Apply some gas to the keg and then release the valve on top a few times to purge the oxygen out of the keg.

After that, I personally just pop it in the fridge and set the pressure somewhere between 10-12 psi and let it sit for a week. It will fully carbonate, and then you can adjust the pressure to match your desired serving carb.

Here's some more info and more here.

Cheers,
Brad

If your beer is only fermented less than 2 weeks I would purge with CO2 as mentioned by Beersmith and let it sit at 70F for 2 weeks. Then you can put it in the fridge and cool it and apply CO2. When you place kegs in the fridge too early the Ale yeast go dormant at that temperature and do not have any time to clean up and condition the beer.
