i made a starter using one of those 1000 ml conical flasks (1/2 c dme 3c water). i was shaking it up just before pitching when a perfectly shaped tear drop hole blew out the side of the flask shooting yeast all over me. i got about half the starter in the wort. does any one know if i'm going to need to pitch more yeast. i'm making a brown ale (sg 1.038). thanks

Hmm hard to say, I would wait it out and see what happens. It will likely be fine since the OG is so low.

That's a low enough OG you could've just poured a smack pack in and been fine. I'm sure half your starter will be enough.

Still not bad. I poured a smack pack into a 1.054 APA last month and it started fermenting 24 hours later. And you probably had more cells than I did.
