i noticed in a growler i bottled in the yeast at the bottom that was once a milky color is now black, it seems to just settle and not stay suspended long , just like the yeast . Is this an infection?

Does it hurt when you pee?

The best way to tell is by taste. It doesn't sound infected, but black sediment sounds strange. What did you make, did you use specialty grain...?

Basically, give us some more information. Is this growler simply bottled beer or is it a yeast starter? Is there a ring around the neck at the liquid level?

it seems to taste fine , it was a Irish Red Ale from midwest HBS . it was a extract kit with speacialty grains. (Crystal malt, Special Roast malt, Roasted Barley malt) . it is just bottled beer, with no ring

There are certain jokes that NEVER get old.

Beer (especially BMC) = pee; always a classic

Why no head = some snide comment about mariage; comments to this effect are obligatory

Someone with a huge belly and no pants = Cheesefood; my personal favorite!

No pants? No pants???? Did I miss that one??? I've seen the one with no shirt but would pay money for the one with no pants.

Not a lot of money, but still real Canadian quarters.

Anyway, I've never seen black yeast- is it possible that it's just some other stuff (hops material or whatever)? If it smells and tastes ok, it's fine. Don't worry about it.
