I have all my stuff ready for my first o2 aeration but I am trying to brainstorm ways to keep the stone at the bottom of the carboy. So far I am stuck on the idea of clipping a section of a wire coat hanger and putting it inside the tubing to keep it rigid. However, Im not sure what kind of metal it is made of. Any chance the metal could react with the pure o2 and diffuse nasties into my beer? Or plug the .5m stone?

The coat hanger is probably lacquer or plastic coated steel, zinc alloy or something similar. You could pull a solid copper wire from electrical cord to feed inside your tubing instead, but it would probably be easier to attach the stone to the end of a racking cane or some other plastic tube.

Why not just zip tie it to a brewing spoon or anything else long and rigid? (*snicker*). Heck, I bet a kitchen spatula would work.
