What is the difference between Caramel 60 and 40? Is it just a color thing?

Thanks :mug:

Color and Flavor. Just a quick look at AHS' descriptions:

Crystal 40L will create a light red color and has a medium toffee-like caramel sweetness. Sometimes this grain is called Carastan.

Crystal 60L will create a deep golden to red color and has a pronounced sweet caramel flavor.

I've seen and tasted both at my LHBS and depending on the kiln...ya know...where they got it from could really be diff. I mean I looked at both and its hard to see a difference in the kilned look...tasting the grains seperatly do offer a slight taste diff. Ask your LHBS to if yoiu can taste the diff grains...very interesting and educational.
