Dead TapRite Regulator, CO2 cartridge to seal keg?

So after losing 2 tanks of CO2 in a week and replacing the o-ring on Taprite thinking that would be the solution, it looks like it's DOA. No patience for rebuilding it, so just ordered a new one from More Beer but won't arrive until next Wednesday.

In the meantime, I have a Pilsner that I was just carbonating and all the CO2 leaked out so I am stuck. My question, I have one of those small portable CO2 cartridges, would that be able to pressurize the keg once I check all the o-rings and lube them? Really don't like the beer sitting without a seal letting any oxygen in.

There should be CO2 coming out of solution into the headspace unless it is totally flat... in which case you could use one of those to put a blanket of co2 on it.
