I'm brewing the famous Cream of Three Crops recipe tonight, actually my strike water is heating as I type. Here's the recipe for reference:

Since the thread is VERY long, too long for me to sort through, has anyone ever added lactose to this in the boil for residual sweetness? If not, how do you think it would work out?

I'm about 2 hours away from my boil, and it's going to be a 90 minute boil, so essentially I'm 3+ hours away from needing to know if lactose is a good idea or a not so smart idea.

Any responses appreciated ahead of time!

Oh, and I'm drinking Hess Brewing's (San Diego) Grazias, a Vienna style cream ale. Cheers my friends!

I personally wouldn't add any lactose to this beer. Its a light crisp beer adding lactose would make it thicker and sweet throwing off the hops balance. If really want a little more body I would just mash it a few degrees hotter.

A million thanks!

Agreed. I never label my cream ales as "cream ales" because people expect something different from what they are. They are supposed to be crisp and dry-ish. Not creamy! There are much better recipes out there for a creamier beer.
