All that aside, people freaked out more because the Vanilla Noir was infected with Brett, and Chase has said the same. It isn't close to 100% of the batches, but some of the vanilla beans did transfer Brett to the beer and some bottles are gushers and infected. The rust absolutely had nothing to do with it though.

I did however have a bottle that the beer was leaking out and bubbling through the wax, I watched it bubble out for 5 straight minutes, definitely a leak.

I just dont get how it could rust even if it was wet when they waxed it. Rust needs water and oxygen and wax would eliminate the oxygen part of that in theory. Hmmm, science! And damn that is cheap for barrels! I assume they are 55 gallon?

The wax does not fill all the crevices/crimped areas, therefore there is oxygen present. I heard they wax with the bottles cold, so that's where the moisture probably came from.

I have a hard time believing it did not contribute to the quality issues with their beers since they have since moved away from wax. Never heard anyone in Arkansas complain about rusted caps or quality issues---they don't get waxed versions.

Yea the one I had was great too, but like I said would hate to risk sending someone else an infected one (even if the risk is minimal). I'll swap it with one of the other variants and drink the vanilla.

I've dewaxed (if that's the term for
It) many bottles and some have had rust on the cap. It didn't deter me from drinking them or even thinking off flavors. Even after drinking.

Gonna have to disagree. 3 of the 4 coffee I have drank had definite Brett infection. The 4th was disappointing but not infected.

Supposedly it was primary a Houston thing. Which sucked for us but the bottles you have more than likely will be fine. Send away! The kegs that made it here were fine so at least i got to try an uninfected one.


Still got nothing i want to part with on this list. I haven't traded in a while and seem out of touch
