I have typically just padded well with dirty clothes when packing in regular luggage. Don't overstuff and piss off the baggage handlers. I also tend to bring my wine check when I know I'm bringing home some stuff. http://www.thewinecheck.com/ Comes in really handy and I also lend it out to friends (for a 1/12 lending fee).

I just followed that link. Amazing that you can check this and the testimonial of the guy that says he watched a baggage handler THROW his wine check 20 feet into the cart and it still was fine. Crazy.

Beat me to it. Would have picked it up if I weren't at a client site. Interesting thing is that I suppose some of the beer I would have sent would technically have not counted since the Mississippi runs through the city and the brewery is on the east bank.

I'm assuming that's a bit of hyperbole because a baggage handler that can throw two fully loaded wine checks 20 feet is a beast. They are pretty durable though.
