Hey all.
Anyone tried to brew the Coopers Stout 5 gallon kit as a 2 gallon kit?Im currently having the Coopers craft kit and i cant find a stout kit for that.So i figured i should try to do it as a 2 gallon kit.I like my stouts high in ABV which i think this will be if i do it a s a 2 gallon kit.
Thx

If you use the kit to make only 40% of the volume, the FG will also increase proportionally, and while you will get higher gravity, it will end up very sweet.

Unless I'm mistaken the beer will be around 2.5 times as bitter as it would be made up to the full 5 gallons.

You might not mind this however. Some recipes call for 2 or more cans of hopped extract. For instance:

Coopers Russian Imperial Stout

1 can each:
  • Coopers Stout
  • Coopers Dark Ale
  • Coopers Lager
Plus 1kg dextrose and yeast from all three kits. This is a 20 litre batch.
