I was wondering if anyone has tried using salt in the ice bath when cooling wort without a cooler.I wonder if the lower temps would be faster/more efficient to warrant the extra expense? You would also have to get rid a to of salt water when you're done too.

I know it may sound silly but we made home made ice cream today and the thought struck me.

no need for salt in the ice bath...a regular old ice bath works well enough. It will cool better with salt, but you don't need it...and it adds additional expense for little gain.

Did my first batch yesterday and I followed HOW TO BREW instructions.
Did an over kill if an ice bath and it cooled in like 15 to 20 mins
