Hey all,

I am on my fourth brew, the first three came out well enough.

I am afraid I have contamination with this one though, see the attached picture. There are definitely colonies floating at the top of my brew. I am hoping they are yeast colonies but have never seen them float before.

The beer is a Belgian Dubbel, I used this kit:
https://www.northernbrewer.com/belgian-dubbel-extract-kit

I used the Wyeast 1214 Belgian Abbey yeast with a yeast starter. The brew sat in a bucket for primary fermentation for 2 weeks and has been in secondary fermentation for three weeks.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Some more info...

OG: 1.068
Current Gravity: 1.012
Current ABV: 7.35%

OK thanks! Yeah I felt better when I took the gravity and realized the beer was 7.35% ABV, I wouldn't think much bad stuff could survive that. It also smells and tastes good.

Looks like yeast rafts. A lot of head space in the clearing vessel. I would have just left it in the primary for three or four weeks to save some work and risk.
I agree 100%. I used to secondary all the time and don't even use it when dry hopping anymore. I never noticed Mich of a difference on clarity.

As for your post no worries. All yeast act differently and I've had that same look in many of my beers.
