It was nice to meet blckout20 today at OEC, who happened to be sporting a TalkBeer shirt and other new & old faces.
The Spontalis was one of my favorite drafts, it will be interesting to see how the bottles develop.

And Billy`s Barbeque was some tasty sustenance
Phin it was excellent meeting you too and enjoying some quality brews. Until next time!

My buddy is getting married in Mystic CT saturday evening 6/13 so I got some time to kill in CT before the wedding. My plan right now is to hit up OEC Brewing around noon. Seeing that NEBC is still working on their tap room any suggestions of liquor stores for SOS or NEBC cans. Any other breweries along the way to check out besides two roads?

Thanks,

Michael

You can drive 10-15 minutes past Mystic and stop in at Beer'd in Stonington.

You can probably find Sea Hag at most stores in the New Haven area (Amity in New Haven right by the brewery, Coastal in Branford). Can't help with SoS cans - those go quickly after being delivered and I haven't seen them since early May.

Thanks for the heads up thinking beer'd brewing company is perfect so i don't miss another wedding looking for beer.

Cheers,

Michael

What do you guys think of It's Not Your Father's Root Beer? I'd heard on r/CTBeer that it was coming to CT and haven't seen a lot of stores post it on BeerMenus. I went to a small grocery store in my town today to pick up some things and found a six pack of it, which really surprised me. They have started getting some good beer but nothing that's super popular and definitely nothing in high demand. Drinking one now, tastes just like root beer. Big surprise, heh.

I gonna need to show a little self-restraint here. Maybe limit myself to one case every 24 days.

I don't like Root Beer so I have no interest in trying it. I received one as an extra several months back and gave it away to a friend.

I heard a lot of bad things about it, but bought it anyways from the liquor store in Milford off of Cherry Street. For what it's worth, they had a ******* shitload of it. Like, literally 2 dozen cases of it stacked right as you walk in. Anyways, I like it even though it basically tastes like root beer mixed with liquor.

Has anyone else ever thought:

Imagine how much more Sea Hag there would be, if NEBCO adjusted the canning line to fill a little bit less? Instead, I probably have a case of collected Hag on my carpet in my house.

I've brought this up to just about every staff member there, including Rob and Matt. Less air in the can = beer stays better tasting longer in their eyes. There were a few May batches of hag that were filled slightly lower and tasted the same to me.

That said, I usually don't see Sea Hag that's more than a week or two old anyway. God I love Sea Hag.

Personally I find these types of posts to be annoying so I apologize in advance.

I'll be in East Lyme, CT to visit family who have no interest in alcohol let alone craft beer and will have limited time to shop. I will be heading to Tree House on Thursday and will probably do my shopping then.

Does anyone know of any good package stores between East Lyme and Tree House? There's three ways I could get there, one of which goes through Hartford, if that's any help. I plan to stop at package stores both in CT and MA (in MA, probably Yankee Spirits, unless someone recommends another place).

I'm looking for barrel aged and sour stuff for some BIFs I'm in, so if anyone has any recommendations for stuff to look for, I'm all ears.

I would recommend stopping at Steady Habit Brewing in Haddam, CT, not far from East Lyme. ctbeerpope runs a good operation and is putting out delicious beers and they're located right behind Tony's Package Store.

Other than that, Willowbrook Spirits in Cromwell (pretty much right of rt. 9 and 91) tends to have a pretty good selection. Harvest in West Hartford might be a bit out of the way but is another good small shop. Manchester Wine & Liquors (off 84) can be solid. CT Beverage Mart in Newington is pretty good. The big thing in CT is more about timing than anything else, but any of those liquor stores will have what's currently available.

Founders event at Prime New Haven tonight for those looking for something to do aside from waiting in line for FBD.
Today is the day! Our great Founders Brewing Co. Tap Takeover begins when we open our doors at 11:30 AM! Tap list will be posted then, but heads up- KBS, BliS Blast, and a cask of Double Trouble with tequila soaked oak chips will be for sale at 4PM sharp!

Rumor has it we might be tapping something else later this evening too...

... BliS Blast? What is that? I want that in my face.
The menu on Prime's site says BliS Blast All Day so I'm guessing it's this:
All Day IPA aged for 5 months in BLiS Blast hot sauce barrels. The barrels first held (in order): bourbon, KBS, BLiS maple syrup, BLiS hot sauce, and finally All Day IPA.
