I was just throwing out the box my chiller came in when I found a piece of paper stuck under the flap. It was first time cleaning instructions. DUH. Due to the oil on the copper you need to clean it first. I just washed it with warm water and sanitized it for 25 minutes in Star Sans. Then, you add it to the boil the last 15 minutes so the boil sanitizes it.
I sure hope it doesnt affect the taste. The hydrometer test tasted awesome. And, it doesn't look like it affected the fermentation because it started within 8 hours and that was Sunday and it's still fermenting but slower.
It's suggested to us TSP or TSP/90.....anyone suggest anything else?
