I use a 2.5 gallon keg that has a small injector. It uses 16g (or modified 12g) cartridges.

I found a REALLY good deal on CO2 cartridges but I wasn't sure if I could make them fit. So I bought a 5-pack first.

The 12g worked without leaking but... OMG my keg smelled like a tire after. So did the injector. I can only assume this bargain gas isn't scrubbed and it stinks as an artifact of the industry it was made in.

I was wanting to know if anyone out there has used paintball cartridge gas for keg dispensing. If you did, was your experience same as mine? Did your beer pickup flavor from the gas?

I did this at the last few inches of a keg. I don't know what would have happened had I used them for the full 2.5g

Why not get a regular 10 or 20# tank? Those small carts can get expensive, quickly.

^^This! Once I had a 5# tank (for portability) and a 20# for the keezer I never looked back.

I guess because I need to learn more before I go full keg with big tanks and regulators etc.

I would be happy to learn about bigger bottles that will work tho.
