when adding cinnamon sticks -- can they just be tossed in or do they have to be "treated" prior?

I've seen on this forum...just toss em in, plus first...boil, bake, soak in bourbon/vodka...etc.

I'm a KISS fan (band and principle) sooooo.....what do peeps do?

Aloha....

I know ppl that have just tossed it in. I personly bring a few cups of water to boil turn off the heat trow in the cinnamon and cover. Then let cool add the liquid and stick.

I've just tossed them into primary and moved them to secondary, I've tossed them into primary only, I've tossed them into secondary only, and I've boiled them and added to secondary. I didn't see a big difference in flavor.

Thanks for feedback.

I'm gonna go with just tossing in secondary for my first batch....and learn from there.

Cheers!
