Hey all,

I'm 55 min into my mash, and just realized I forgot to throw a campden tablet in my mash water to get rid of chloramine. I remembered while heating up my sparge water, so that's treated. Anything I can do now, or is whatever damage this will cause already done?

I know, I know... RDWHAHB... but I'm hungover and it doesn't sound tasty. :drunk:

Sorry to say but since chloramines don't boil off (well, not in a reasonable amount of time), I don't think there is much you can about it now. I'm not sure what adding the campden to the finished mash will do, but it might help.

My guess is that it is too late, whatever compounds are formed would have happened.

Well... At least I have a name for the brew... Chloramarillo IPA!! Note to self: Dont schedule a brew day and then drink till 5am the night before!

It probably won't do any harm to add a 1/4 tablet to the boil. It might not help, either, but you'll definitely boil off anything harmful to the yeast.
