Just looking around and getting familiar with different methods.
It looks like it's used for beer but does Candi Syrup have any use for sweetening/flavoring cider?

flavoring maybe, probably.

Sweetening, no. From what I understand candi sugar/syrups are inverted sugars that are less complex and actually simpler for yeast to ferment out. Unless you either use a yeast that has a low alcohol tolerance and you use enough sugar that when it quits there will be some residual sugar; or you use potassium sorbate and/or potassium metabisulfate to back sweeten.

The idea is interesting. You could still find a good cider recipe, sub some of the regular sugar for candi sugar/syrup, and back-sweeten. I just heard about this: http://www.cascadebeercandi.com/ , and haven't had time to familiarize myself with what they have, but at a glance some of their stuff could lead to some interesting flavor combinations.
