Can anyone of you Winnipeg brewers tell me what water you are using, is the tap water here in Winnipeg ok or are you using RO water, I'm new and Extract brewing for now, Thanks

We have excellent water here in da Peg. Get yourself an RV filter for the chlorine and you are good to go.

AG homebrewer from Red Deer, AB here. Yeah, our LHBS shops suck so I usually place online orders for smaller stuff and get my bulk grains from Country Malt Group.
If anyone would like to trade/swap some beers from Central Alberta, Edmonton or Calgary, I'm up for it :tank: need to broaden my palette a little

Hi I'm from Calgary. I tried to order from Country Malt but they said I had to be a licensed store or brewer. How do you order your grains from them?
Thanks.

Yeah, I heard last night. Sad to hear it, Dan was a pretty cool guy.

I am in the GTA/York Region :). just receiving my first big of gear and yeasts today. Now to find the time to brew :)

Kelowna BC here
All grain setup. I buy from hopdawgs.ca and ontariobeerkegs.com.
Hopdawgs is a 35 minute drove from me but I'm too lazy to go there so I mail order.
I buy my malts from hopdawgs but Gambrinus malting corp is only about a 50 minute drive for me so once I get a grain crusher I will buy in bulk. I think basic 2 row is somewhere around $25 for a 55lb sack
Keep on brewing on fellow canucks

I haven't done it yet personally but have talked to people who do. You just call in your order a day in advance and pick it up the next day. Cash only

Don from the south shore checking in. Veteran brewer, off and on, between Ontario and Nova Scotia. Wine and beer, from all grain, all grape, but doing the easy grain way with largely Festa and Brewhouse worts. Kegging large with my Danby two tap home converted corny kegerator, and getting ready to fire up my commercial Sankey/Corney True kegerator. Anyone on here tried the Micro-Brew wort from Brasse Frampton in Quebec?

Semi-new brewer in Calgary here, did the kits in University but now doing partial mash, hopefully moving to AG when I can find a sanke keg somewhere in Calgary to make a keggle with...anyone from Calgary know of a source (other than theft), or a place to get a reasonably priced 8-10 gallon stock pot?

A few good LBS in Calgary, The Vineyard usually has a good selection of grains/hops. Staff can be a bit rough around the edges and prices are steeper than online retailers, but its close and has quality stuff so can't complain too much!

I bought my pots at an East Indian food store... they have huge pots for cheap. I think I paid > $40 for my 16L pots. I don't do full boils though, just partial mashes.

That's exactly what I use. I have since bought a ss pot with a valve on it. But this crappy tire turkey fryer goes on sale once or twice a year as well. The burner works great and I still use it. No reason for an upgrade at this point.
If you want a stainless pot check out ontariobeerkegs.com the 2 port welded is $79

I have 2 for side by side partigyle brews. The first one I bought is only 32qts but has some serious BTU's. The newer model is 36qts with less horsepower but a cleaner flame when on low power. Heres a pic from my easter weekend Thomas Hardy Barley Wine/AK brew.http://barclayperkins.blogspot.ca/2013/03/lets-brew-wednesday-eldridge-pope-1967.html

Hey Hey!

All Grain brewer from Sarnia, Ontario here! Great to see so many Canucks and fellow brewers from Ontario on here!

Cheers!

Getting back into it, london Ontario here. Brewed my first batch today, did the American Amber ale from Ontario beer kegs

Just got back from a town called Herschel in SK. We were there waterfowl hunting. Cool place, nice people... Great hunting!

Code:
Winnipeg (northend specific), MB. Just started brewing this year. Family got me the equipment to start for fathers' day and I'm really enjoying it. I think the family is enjoying how much time I'm spending in the 'brewery' too ;). Did a couple of 'wort-in-bag' kits, working on a extract brew in secondary now.

Another 'Pegger checking back in, I'm glad to see all the Canadians on here, Just wondering how many people BIAB? I stumbled onto this method, I haven't brewed a batch like that yet but I can already tell its going to be my preferred method... It seems to come from Australia... they all seem to BIAB...
