I am brewing a session ale this morning with locally grown Cascade hops but cannot decide on my schedule. I want it to be as balanced as possible. Here is the malt bill:

6lbs Maris Otter
.5 Lb Brown Malt
.5 C-120
.5 lb table sugar (late addition)

Mash at 152

OG: 1.042 (based on 75% eff.)

For the hops, I have 3oz of leaf hops and 1oz of Magnum (13.5% AA) pellets.

I tentative schedule right now is

.5oz Magnum @ 45 min
1oz Cascade @ 20
1oz Cascade @ 5

Nottingham yeast.

I was thinking of saving the last of the Cascade for a possible dry hop. I am only using the Magnum so I can more accurately calculate IBUs.

Let me know what you think.

If you want to save one ounce for dry hop, I would probably bump the 20 minute to a fifteen, keep the five, and do the dry hop. Looks good. I love MO malt.

Brew day done. Stayed with the 20 and 5 minute additions, which turn into continuous additions (20 to 15) and (8 to 5) due to new use of DIY hop spider.

Taste test after the boil tasted pretty good. I will test it in 2 weeks and decide on dry hopping then.

Thanks,

Joe
