So I bought the Brewer's Friend app today and plugged in the ingredients for the kit I just got from Morebeer and the numbers in the recipe sheet and the numbers in the app are VERY different. I was wondering if someone with another brewing software would see what they get. Here's the info:

Morebeer Kit Recipe for "Light Ale"
6lbs Ultralight DME
8oz Crystal 15L for steeping
.5oz Cascade 6.8 AA Pellets 60 min
1oz Cascade 6.8 AA Pellets 1 min

Expected numbers per Morebeer:
OG 1.038-1.042
SRM 7.3
IBUs 12-16
ABV 3.8%

Expected numbers per Brewer's Friend:
OG 1.051
SRM 4.19
IBU 10.21
ABV 5.45%

These numbers aren't even close...is Brewer's Friend inaccurate or is something else going on?

I use brewersfriend, not the app but their mobile version. their target numbers & my actual are always very close.
putting your amounts in I get 1.048 assuming this is a 5.5 gal batch. 1.053 if just 5 gallons. not sure what's going on..

Do you have the recipe set up as "extract" in brewer's friend? If you have it as partial mash, you may get an incorrect OG if I remember correctly.

I get 1.053 OG in Brewer's Friend using dry extract.

I get 1.050 using Beersmith.

Those are close enough, as I didnt' specify any brand which may vary slightly

Do you have dry extract in your kit? Or liquid? That makes a huge difference in the OG and ABV.
