Brew Hut Raising Weekend - 4/25

I need a basement and the garage they are mine they can have the rest of the house who needs a kitchen I have a bathroom a microwave ,TV and the bar

I've lived in SE, far West, and now North Texas and I have never seen a basement except on really extravagant houses. I really wish we had them...

Get out the mining tools (if you have rock like Ed does) and dig a storm cellar, which need not be under your house. If it happens to have a lot of room to store beer and wine, well, you might want those during a storm, right? And it's all about being safe - the beer storage is just a happy dividend.

SWMBO has been watching eBay in Germany looking for a real German Biergarten lamp and came across this one that I won. It's going to be mounted on the wall between the door and window on the porch of the brewhaus.

Tucher is one of my favorite Weissbiers.

Thought a basement is just as good here in the UP of Michigan! Pretty stable lagering temps durring winter , ofcourse, I could bury my fermenter outside in snow!

With how drafty the Houghton houses are you could probably pull stable lagering temps anywhere in the house.

SWMBO has been watching eBay in Germany looking for a real German Biergarten lamp and came across this one that I won. It's going to be mounted on the wall between the door and window on the porch of the brewhaus.

Tucher is one of my favorite Weissbiers.

I saw this this past Saturday at Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati while picking out beers. I'd never heard of it. I'll have to pick up a couple bottles next time I'm down there. Or may in the spring. I get to go back in 2 weekends! Beer Heaven for us small town folks.

I got a pair of them for $83 (including shipping). We are still thinking about where to put the other one. It won't fit on the right side of the door.

Perhaps on a post in the Biergarten next door....Hmmmmm

Slowing down. The electric install dried up the funds for a while. This weekend is the Dixie Cup in Houston, so I'll be judging in the second round and enjoying some brew with fellow Beer Knurds.

I'd like to get back to work on it. I'm ready to frame out the cold room, but SWMBO has me using my newly honed carpentry talents on a barn addition for hay storage.

All this is so we can move hay that is currently stored in a stall. Once that is done, we'll renovate the stall for this guy.

His name is Barley.

Yep, he's a draft cross, but will make a great trail rider and perhaps beer wagon puller. :cross: He's 4 years old, but a gentle giant with a great disposition.

Time, space, money plus the War Department not approving a shed in her yard about sums it up the few negatives preventing building one in her yard. I do have one area that a shed would fit.
I'm already marked as a sinner by one midwestern bible thumping transplant neighbor that moved in a couple years ago. Wait until brew day with a bunch of BMW bike club members show up. I had 34 bikes all of the 70's era once for a lunch and bier tasting before they moved in. Heck my dad at 80 was still riding bike before passing away. These bible thumping neighbors didn't like his 46 500 Matchless thumper, retard timing then crack the throttle for a "soft pop" to kill the motor every sunday when he came for his weekly hot dinner. No noisy Harleys allowed that brand is totally banned after a group of 6 vs 23 Harleys bucked the center island and did burnouts. I respect my neighbors.

I vote for "beer wagon puller", Polls closed. Now get back to brewing, building and brewing. Otherwise your honey do list will continue to grow and we will be deprived of some great brewing porn. A lot of us live vicariously off of your projects Ed, don't let us go into withdraw.

I finally finished all my outdoor Honey-Do's on the barn for SWMBO, so last night I started framing out the Cold Room. It's going to be big enough to put 20 cornies on the right when you walk in and the eight kegs to dispense on the left with some shelving for bottled beer and other items that need to be kept refrigerated.

I need to buy a 30" pre-hung door and once that is in, I can begin insulating. This pic may look like things are not plumb as I photo merged two pics to get the shot due to close quarters.

Now that the weather is cooled off and I have electricity, the inside work can be done in the evenings.
