Williams Kit California Pilsner.

The yeast pack isn't really at 1.5 inches but it's sure as hell alive in there.

It's a rainy Saturday, I got the lawn cut before the rain. Can't work on the car or clean the garage, the U of M - CMU game has been weather delayed...

do i need anymore hints that it's time to boil?

Watch out for boil overs. I had a horrible boil over last night right after my first hop addition. Didn't lose too much, but it still made a mess. Thank goodness I was outside using a propane burner instead of inside on the stove.

California Pilsner.

I Boil 2 gallons of water then cool it in an Ice Bath, then boil 3 gallons with the extract, got a nice deep pot so the first boil is the only dangerous one, the Hop additions foamed a bit but not too bad.

Pitched the yeast at 80F, hydrometer at 1.054, didn't do a conversion on that (1.057??) should finish at about 4%

Original minus final then devide by 8.

1.054- 1.018 = 34/8 = 4.5%

Could get to 1.054- 1.012 = 42/8 = 5.25%


Just depends on how low you can GO.

1.054 was at 80F, the Hydro says it's caliberated at 60F, so that's +~3? 1.057.

should finish about 1.017 according to the recipe

1.057 - 1.017 = 40/8 = 5%.

not 100% on the calculation between the Hybrometer caliberation at 60F and the hydro reading I took at 80F

Another calculation= 1.057 - 1.017 = .040 x127.5 = 5.1%

The do have Saaz hops in there which I was THIS close to just eating!!

I picked up an oz of Golding hops to drop in the secondary, 'spose I need a hop bag for that, or will I be able to rack that out when I go to the Primer?
